Cool! Should be interesting to see if they change how they market things.

Also, in on page one and in before the inevitable HighwayStar commentary.

I remember this guy from Hunter. Always very agitated it seemed. He started that big freestyle event, Latitude 42 to Hunter. It went the same way as he did. Huge event but only the competiors were interested in it.

I wish him luck - and I wish Killington luck.

Looks like he's in his mid-early 40's, and see's this as a challenge and a chance to move up. Hunter and Mt. Creek are certainly good experiences with marketing to the NYC metro area. Went to school in NY. Not only does he have ski industry experience, he has lots of eastern ski experience.

This is, dare I say, encouraging!?

This doesn't sound to good for Killington. I guess we shouldn't count on any discount deals this winter.

Killington's most significant problems have nothing to do with marketing. It's the long string of bone-headed decisions made on high that chased all the people away. The value proposition is lousy. Getting them back is going to require a pretty dramatic improvement in both product quality and pricing. A 7 month season and a bunch of lift-serviced sidecountry in the interconnect would be a start.

Agreed. On a similar note, it doesn't matter if they hire the best marketer in the world if they make his job impossible with decisions such as last years closing....just makes marketing look terrible.

Do you think more tree skiing / expert terrain is what the masses are looking for and where Killington needs to improve their product the most? I've always felt Killington has plenty of expert terrain, but lacks in quantity and quality of cruising terrain. I know where my terrain preferences lie, but I don't think those necessarily align with what the majority of skiers are looking for.

Pico actually has some pretty nice cruising terrain from it's summit, so having that connected to Killington proper would certainly help with that deficiency some. I don't know the topography well in the area of the interconnect. If there was an opportunity to throw in a few top to bottom cruising trails without all the crazy intersections of the main mountain, I think that would be a better addition to their terrain mix than more tree skiing.

The 2-lift interconnect plan as it sits will add a moderate pitch terrain pod next to rams head and a steeper area on the east side of Pico. There is no good tree skiing out there, the woods are too dense and brushy, any glades would have to be cut.
