Anyone know when the bridge repairs on I-91 in VT will be completed? There are two single lane bridges in So VT and I am curious if the work will be done beore ski season. The VT DOT website isn't very informative on this work..

I came up 91 a few weeks ago and the only bridge work I saw being done was one bridge in Brattleboro. Traffic got merged onto the southbound side, one lane each, for no more than a mile, probably a lot less than that actually. Barely slowed me down at all. Done or not, I don't think it is anything to worry about for winter driving.

They hammered out the two bridges near the Welcome Center in the off seaon. I think Irene slowed things down with these two. It looks like theyre laying the steel for the bridge thats closer to exit 2. Im sure they're aiming to have them done before the snow flies and sticks around. If they're not, the traffic there shouldn't be too bad....in theory. We've been caught there a few time on Friday night holidy weekend travels and the wait was only a few minutes.

Glen and Riv thanks for sharing the current status. Last time I was up to VT there were two bridges under repair requiring going to one lane. Merges to one lane on roads like I-91 on Friday nights and Sunday afternoons can be tough during ski season. The single lane bridge on I-91 near Greenfield, MA was tough a couple of seasons back.

The worst is in the snow when you get one person that panics and goes 30mph through there. Other than that, it's not enough traffic to really make a difference. Hopefully they finish them quickly

We drove by the bridges last night. They've had lights up there at night for the past few weeks, but I didn't see any work going on.

The furthest I've seen the backup go was about a 1/4 mile past exit 1. I want to say that was 4th of July weekend? If push comes to shove, you could always jump off 1, take a few backroads over to Rt 9, head west and you can jump on 91 @ Exit 2.

I think those lights are just there to illuminate where the jersey barriers begin in an attempt to prevent people from crashing into them. There aren't lights on the construction area itself, just the road.
