If it's done by AARP it's more likely the "definitive list of ski resorts that are paying us".

EDIT: And Killington is probably the LAST place I would send an older skier! That one cracks me up.

It should just say "any ski area on a weekday morning". Being 41 I'm usually the youngster when I show up to ski on weekday mornings.

Gee, whiz. How much did these ski areas pay to get on this list? Smuggs seems like a really weird choice. All fixed grip lifts and one long ride on M1. Not to mention long lines on weekends. Though I am sure most of the AARP crowd is skiing mid-week. Loon and Killington both are very crowded and get skied off and scraped.

Bretton Woods seems like the obvious omission. High speed lifts, mellow terrain, great views, good snow, lots of wide open cruising, etc. Burke has the high speed lifts, great cruising, etc. Okemo probably should be on there. Stowe perhaps.

Crested Butte is far from a good choice for older skiers, unless the older skiers is defined as an expert in great physical shape who likes the steeps and plenty of them.

The mountain is just such a playground for advanced skier who loves steeps. The amount of intermediate terrain is rather scant. If I remember correctly, a lot of the stuff out there is either jump turns, or beginner flats. Not much in between. If we make the assupmtion that an older skier wants well manicured groomers, those can be found there, but there are far better choices for that than CB.

One of my favorite areas. On thing that they are right about, it takes some doing to get there, thus, it's not too crowded.

Given it's AARP, probably a lot! They've turned into the "Old People's mafia".

Yeah, I saw that one too. That's what happens when an article on skiing is written by someone who has never skied a day in his/her life I suppose. lol.

Interesting to see Sugar Bowl on there. Place has some insane terrain and home mountain of Daron Rahlves.
