When she was on the lift, it was mounted on her head. Either the Helmet mount or the regular head mount.

As she is on the lift and walking into the tent the camera is way above the heads of everybody else. So it has to be on her head, not chest.

If you watch the video very closely, at 1:03 (as she is skiing up to Hienz) you can see the shadow of the GOPRO strapped to her right leg just below the knee.

I was debating between head vs chest mount at the beginning too. One thing to remember is that Lindsey is by no means short ;) Could be one of the chest mounts

Her right ski is always in the center of the frame. Wherever that camera is mounted, it's in line with her right ski. If the camera was helmet of chest mounted, her right ski wouldn't appear in the center of the frame.

Plus, you can see her left boot at times, but you never see her right boot.

There is no mystery here. Stop looking for one. Jeez.
+1

Anyhow who ever raced would know that the cam wasn't on her chest...she is her tuck most of the time. And probably 9/10 would say that it was on lower right leg.

That being said, I'll show this vid to my daughter...she is going to be even more stoke for ski racing.

Hmmmm... I didnt notice that, but that could be the evidence needed to solve this mystery.

You can see the camera attached to her leg in her shadow, as stated previously.

I've gone down 4 world cup courses...only one was icy but it was enough to really impress me how difficult it is..Birds of Prey at Beaver Creek..scary thing it is..and they straight line it. The top of the mens run at Snowbasin is pretty steep as well, can't imagine straigth lining that thing...these racers are amazing!

I'm gonna be "that guy"... Poor music choice.

Very cool vid. Despite popular opinion, POV doesn't suck.

Regular ol' straight start these days. Guess the pros are no longer kicking back one ski at the start, and leaning forward so the torso is out of the gate before the legs.....

i played it with sound. my daughter heard it across the room and came over to see what i was watching. when she saw it was skiing she walked away.

We took my wife's car to VT a few weeks ago. She had a top 40 station on. I could only take about 4.5 minutes of that. I should post in the "today I felt old because..." thread.

Great article about Heinz H. Vonn's "ski man", or "ski tech"

"WHISTLER, B.C. - Lindsey Vonn has been exultant over the past four days, as a disastrous combination of fog, rain and too-warm temperatures has led to the postponement of the Alpine skiing events at the 2010 Winter Games - the American ski racing sensation needs to rest her severely bruised shin.

But one of Vonn's closest confidants has been unable to celebrate.

Austrian-born ski technician Heinz Haemmerle, whose job it is to prepare the seven-foot-long rocketships attached to Vonn's feet during races, has spent the week tuning and retuning her skis for conditions that seem to change by the minute. Haemmerle, one of the world's most experienced and respected ski tuners, has spent most of the last week scrambling back and forth from the top of the soggy mountain to his makeshift workshop...." continued

I've been down the WC courses (with WC condition snow) at both Aspen and Snowbasin. The Grizzly downhill course at Snowbasin was less than 10 days after the 2002 Olympics and since it had only snowed a few inches since the end of the games, you could still see the paint marking the course lines and gate positions. While I was there, the paraolympics were there, and the downhill start they were using was below the base of the tram that takes you upto the men's start house. While my wife and I were up by the men's start house skiing that pitch, one of the paraolympics racers, with JUST 1 LEG pushed out of the mens starthouse and straightlined that first pitch while it was covered with a few inches of chopped up powder, not "smooth" race condition snow  That guy just totally ripped it and was seriously flying down by the base of the tram (the racers in the olympics were hitting 75-80 at the base of that pitch!)

The set of brass one's it takes to hurl ones self down a WC downhill course, especially with "world cup snow" on it is amazing, let alone being able to carve it up like its hero corn snow!

I tried to ski the Ladies GS right after the Lake Place Olympics. It was untouched a week later. Holy freaking ice. The tracks were still there. I was on my butt after the first three " gate placements" (no gates). Huge strength is needed to push those skis into the ice .My strength is a magnitude of order below any of men or women. I walked away with mega respect. Then again, I'm sure they have endured hundreds of falls in their training, and "worked their way up".

As a novice who plays just about every sport there is under the sun, I have mad respect for ALL professional athletes...it's not until after you have tried [and miserably failed in my case] to emulate what these guys and gals do, that you really understand just how difficult it can be. The human body is amazing and once you train your muscles to work a certain way it becomes second nature, like rolling out of bed.

I can't believe there's so much banter on here about where the bloody camera is mounted???

We'll give you a pass because you're new here.

You must have missed the "Is it possible to hit 75mph at Sunapee thread". Or the always popular "Let's analyze Killington's snowmaking strategy." That one's usually good for a hundred responses or so every year.
