That's too bad. We need these feeder hills to keep the sport going.

Im starting to wonder if that is really the case these days.

THat being said, this has got to be the lowest price of entry to a ski area you can find.

Forclosing on under 100k? Something tells me that Granite Gorge will escape NELSAP.

GG is a great local hilll for the Keene/Monadnock region. Go there on Thurs or Friday afternoon and its challenging to find a parking spot because of the school group program. It very much functions as a 'feeder hill' & a great place to ski after work, safe for the kids to ski with friends, great if you're local and only have time to take a few rips etc.. Also caters to the park crowd, all in all a good training ground. They expanded the lodge and added a bar last year so definitely have invested some recent funds. They're also running a shuttle this year from Keene State. Don't know the details but word is the mountain will not reach NELSAP status. The sentinel did not do well by GG, with a headline of Foreclosure coupled with a big picture of the empty mountain taken on a Monday.. when the mountain is closed anyhow every Mon -leading some people to believe its already shut down. Despite the media sensationalism we're told the lift will continue to spin.. Stay tuned..

JFP thanks for the first-hand info and please keep us updated. They've done a good job there with little or nothing to start. And, FWIW, Whaleback just up the road faced a similar issue with a creditor and the Valley News reported on it in a similar fashion. They are still going.

They expanded the lodge and added a bar last year so definitely have invested some recent funds.

Was this the basis for the financing?

And yeah the article was not really clear and did not make sense as to what was really going on.

I enrolled my kid into their ski school program this year. They seem to derive a lot of their business from the ski school program.

I'm driving from MA as an alternative to overpriced and overcrowded local options. The parent ticket at Granite Gorge is a great deal. Plus it's a blast getting into the road trip routine with my older son.

I'll be keeping an eye on how this develops.

It's unclear/ not necessarily; GG is owned by Baybutt which is a local family owned construction company/ general contractor and are involved in a lot of projects in the area.
