Or will you go & brave the crowds? If so do you have a plan for dealing with it?
I'm thinking of maybe doing some night skiing for a change in the hope of smaller crowds...or do night conditions suck? Still undecided....

I briefly considered going up to NH, but it's not worth the drive from NJ for just a few inches.

I am considering hitting up Elk or Shawnee for a halfday. They're supposed to get 1-3" on Sat. I might do an afternoon or night session, we'll see.

Still debating whether to head out this weekend. Have passes to Loon but I've been there over a holiday weekend and it's not pretty...so I'm looking into other options.

I'm going! There is a 50-60 percent chance of some new snow for Jay and Stowe according to a NOAA point forecast.

It's weekends like this that make me regret getting rid of my seasons pass.

It's just not worth paying extra money to deal with the crowds and mediocre conditions, but at the same time, skiing is better than not skiing.

Night skiing is awesome, I think I prefer it to day. Why do you think the conditions will suck? I've heard that lament many times about night skiing. It's one thing if the actual condition of the snow is terrible eg. frozen from rain or a thaw/freeze, but if the conditions were generally good and just need grooming, no problem. I'll ski what's there, and ski it well.

This is not directed to you legalskier, but it's funny how many expert skiers will only ski perfect conditions.

I don't think this is true. I think what it is, is the fact that if you're going to spend all this money and time to go skiing, you want to try and time it so you have the best conditions possible. That can sound like the same thing, but it comes from a very different place than, "I'll only ski perfect conditions.".

Understood, thanks. Actually I ski almost any snow condition- it's the crushing crowds that get to me. The trees help me address both. ;-)

I took my kids to a Sunday night session at Shawnee once, to show them some night skiing. It wasn't crowded at all- then again, it wasn't a holiday.
I liked Shawnee because they always had one discount coupon or another I could use. My kids liked looking for turtles in the pond out front. Something for everyone.

My plans for the week are Monday the 18th to hit Cannon or Loon (Depending on where the snow hits this weekend)... Tuesday I have to take the little guy for his 24 month checkup, so after I drop him off at daycare, I plan to get some turns over at Wa...

Going to be at Sugarbush 20-22 braving the crowds. Hoping the later part of the week won't be as bad as this coming weekend.

Local molehill, Greek Peak, Saturday afternoon, and Sunday. I spent enough money last week, time to save a little. I've got OT lined up the rest of the week, working half day Saturday also. The cheap bastards wanted me to work OT for straight time since two days of the week were vacation days, I "straightened" them out on that policy, I will be getting time and a half for any time over eight hours. What a crappy policy, who would want to work OT for straight time? Vacation days should be treated as if you actually worked that day IMHO.

Being you're in Burlington you could hop across the border & ski one of the Eastern Township areas. It will probably be less crowded there.

I would consider this if I didn't have plans with some poeple.

I wonder how the snow has been up there. I don't usually look at thier snowfall and forecasts although I guess I should since I'm not too far away.

My pass is blacked out only on Saturday of holiday weekends so my plan is going up to Vermont Thursday night, ski Friday and Saturday, and head back early Sunday. I only have to pay for one day of skiing and hopefully avoid the worst of the traffic.

I'm wondering if Pico will be a decent midweek option next week, say Wednesday or Thursday - anyone have any insights?

I'll just ride a bunch of fixed grip lifts at Mount Snow and still more than likely get my desired 15-20 runs in by lunchtime and then retreat to the upstairs bar and just have a few extra folks to talk to ;)

Crowded holiday weekend skiing is FAR better than no skiing in my book! :) :daffy:

Skiing this weekend both days, skiing early and early lunch....and then sucking it up when I have to put up with the lines.
Better than not skiing ! The following week is NH Vacation week, so more of the same !
