Passes are blacked out. It's like being paid to not stand in line. We'll probably go see the jumping at Harris Hill, go snowshoeing and fire up the snowmobile.

I will be skiing Sunday (Cannon) and Monday (Sunapee). I expect crowds (and wind Sunday). Meeting some friends Monday and got $25 tickets. I will get there early and try to ski around the crowds as much as possible. Early lunch and such.

I should be at Cannon Sunday too. Winds look to be out of the NNW at 30-40 mph and higher in the the afternoon. Should not be problem though.

The latest report for Cannon for Sunday:
A 50 percent chance of snow. Cloudy and cold, with a high near 8. Wind chill values as low as -34. Strong and damaging winds, with a northwest wind 50 to 60 mph increasing to 70 to 80 mph. Winds could gust as high as 105 mph.

Yeah, I saw that too...crazy! It won't be quite as bad as that, the NWS summit forecasts are always higher than reality, but still. I have 3 pre-teens to keep busy on Sunday. I foresee us at a hidden, sheltered, low elevation slope where they get their first taste of earning turns. I know just the spot...

They have mellowed it a bit but still:
A 40 percent chance of snow before 5pm. Cloudy and cold, with a high near 4. Wind chill values as low as -26. Very windy, with a north wind 31 to 36 mph increasing to 42 to 47 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 60 mph.

Went to Waterville Valley yesterday in lieu of skiing the weekend. I redeemed a voucher. The other considerations were either Loon or Sunday River on Saturday; with Saturday of Presidents weekend usually being the most crowded day of the year, Friday still won out. I saw the bluebird day coming on Friday, and wasn't going to run the risk of wind holds on Sunday as I was considering Jay Peak on Sunday via a bus trip.

So yes, Waterville won out Jay Peak this weekend as of course Waterville is a day trip for me while Jay is not.

Actually, it is interesting that I have Waterville vouchers blacked out through 2/26 along with all Saturdays. So they must see something that they get more people on a NH school vacation week on Monday and Tuesday vs a normal Sunday. But I did go to Sunday River on the Sunday between MA and NH school vacation weeks last year and thought the crowds were very reasonable as I've seen much busier Sundays over there despite a recent dumping of 9 inches of powder (when I went).

Planning on skiing Gunstock tomorrow, but a bit worried about the lifts being shut down due to high winds......
