Wow! erh...what's CHC?

Hmmm... hard decision. Drive up north to VT to have a real powder day? Or stay home and enjoy the hero snow in the Cats???

There's still a ton of uncertainty with this. It's not inconceivable that the Cats could get almost as much as some of the VT places. That's probably a stretch, but I'd rather ski 9" to 12" in the Cats than drive many more hours for 12" to 18" in VT for one day of skiing. If you can take Monday off, it's a different story, but remember that this storm doesnt hit until Saturday after the lifts stop spinning.

Also, I havent ran any wind maps yet. Has anyone done that to know how the winds will be Sunday?

I'm with you there's no difference between 12" to 18". But 3" vs rain is...skier's haven and hell! That "depending on rain/snow line" worries me a little. What if the Cats got rain instead of snow?

Working Monday. :( But that still leaves all of Sunday to enjoy whatever falls (or suffer if it turns out to be rain!)

Ahhh, that's another wild card!

Trouble is, I'm supposed to be working in the city office Friday. :( Not a problem for skiing the Cats on Saturday. But if I were to head up north, it's better that I work from home and avoid the city traffic entirely...

The last few storms were all coastal so if the Cats didn't get it, inland or up north gets nothing anyway. I just stay home.

This one is different that the north country will get it, just a matter of how much. While the Cats may get lots of snow, or little bit of snow, or even rain!:(

I'm tempted to go north just to be on the safe side, especially since many mountains already got quite a few inches today so the weekend is basically setting up to be at least good, and could turn to great if the storm materialize!

Westchester County, NY and a Mountain near you!
Im keeping my fingers crossed. It looks like sat night is the main thrust so even if it is a bit warm on saturday, but by evening the accumulations should come.
Sunday looks yummy.

The woods can still use some more to answer DMC...but with a real good dump this weekend they may start to ski.

Maybe I missed something, but I havent seen any models flirt with the R/S line being near the Catskills. That's not even something I'm worrying about until/unless the models bring this storm farther north.

Well, I'll see if Winnchill updates his forecast on the site tomorrow. I'm not a meteorologist so I can't tell how much margin there is on the snow/rain line.

I ran the GFS boards for the duration of the storm, and this time period is as close as I can get the R/S line to the Catskills.

It's admittedly closer than I thought, but even this image depicts the Cats as "in the clear" in terms of receiving all snow, and again, this is as close as it gets. The preceding and following images have the R/S line farther away.

Been working near Elk , been snowing every day mountain looks in great shape. Skied there twice recently, great conditions . All trails but one should be open. Elk's a good choice but if it dumps there is no place like Plattie!
