Glad I went last weekend, I had a feeling this week's weather would be the KOD for Superstar. Nice of Killington to offer what's left for free this weekend. Have a great weekend and Summer all! I can now take my ski rack off the Subaru. Happy to see Killington's new found commitment to early/late operations, it's much closer to home than others in the game. It worked on me, I'm more interested to visit mid season than I was before too.

Same here Corn' (nice running into you again, btw) - I also figured this weekend might be a mudfest, so I'm glad I chose last weekend to close my season - it really was an off-the-charts spring-bumpin weekend, and was truly like the old K from 15 or 20 years ago as JimG also stated - looking forward to many more like this with Mike S at the helm - hope everybody enjoys the finale and has a great summer!

So why their email that came at 430pm say it was going to be $29, in the drift? I'm confused.
Given the intensity of the r*in we received last night and the forecast of significant r*in starting tonight through the day on Saturday, our operational plans have changed since last night’s communication. This weekend (May 25th & May 26th), we will be offering FREE skiing and riding for all at Killington! Walking between snowfields will be required in several spots. Ma Nature is charging into summer and has other things in mind for us other than skiing, like golf and Mt Biking. To push any remaining snow to make connecting bridges would only hasten the melt process. Please note we are now going to operate Saturday and Sunday only, from 8-5, on the Superstar lift and trail.

We gave it our best shot to get into June, thus at the end of business on Sunday we are calling it a season. We thank all for your patronage and support this year. Don’t forget to buy your season passes for next year’s greatest value opportunity by June 13th! Remember only 130 days until we’re at it again for 2013-14!”

Okay I'm very happy that they made it this far, but at 430 pm as of today they should have not sent out an email saying it will be $29 maybe my email came late but definitely have it in my phone at 430. Hopefully some people on here have great time this closing weekend up their and I look foward to them opening up early so I can hopefully ski their in October it all goes well which I believe if we have cold.weather they open up that early.

Scotty I got "The Drift" e-mail at 2:20 this afternoon & it said exactly what I posted. Yes yesterday they announced they'll be closed Fri & will be open Sat.-Mon. & charging $29 but I learned that from K's website & other postings, not from "The Drift".

It's on, looks like you'll be walking the last drop. I bet the middle will still be good. Hey what'd ya want for nothin? On Memorial Day Weekend, no less. Kudos to Killington for giving it their best shot to make it to June. This week's weather was brutal for snow preservation. Offering free skiing instead of just bagging it is icing on the cake. They've definitely earned a visit from me next year. Way to go Killington!

I can't beleive they are opening on that! Mind you, I think it is great, and if it were feasible for me to do so, I would go.

It's going to be sub freezing there tonight. they may farm snow from higher up. Maybe not...
There is no snow to farm from up higher. There is a picture taken late yesterday afternoon posted on K-Zone that shows most of the trail, not just the bottom like the web cam. There is a large section of lower middle Supe that has no snow at all & only a narrow band going up to the headwall from there. Bring your hiking boots if you plan on going.

I give Killington credit for pushing the season for as long as possible. The open line of communication from management this season was also refreshing. I hope that their bottom line reflects positively for the new management style shown this season so it can continue. Although I missed the second half of the season this year due to injury it was nice to read all the positive feedback coming from K this year. I've already purchased a season pass for next year & will be all ready to go when they turn the snow guns back on next Oct./Nov.

Here's a funny thought, you see that final patch of snow? Probably as big as the vertical at Xanadu, yet people would flock to the novelty of an indoor ski area.

What vertical at Xanadu? When I pass it on the train ride in to work every day it looks flat like pancakes.

I wasn't there on June 1, 2002, but from the pic of the current SS, it will be very similar to June 1, 1993 where the trail was broken into a few piece and you had to more or less hike most of the middle part. I remember it had been also cold on that day as I was skiing with my ski jacket.

Good chance of some new snow on Saturday afternoon/night above 2000-3000 ft.I believe Superstar's base is 2500 and peak is about 3700.Can you say last day freshies? That would be kind of cool.

Just peeked at the webcam...it's snowing at K!

In the 10 seconds the cam gave me I saw at least 5 skiers coming down. Awesome!
