The skinny on Okemo woods/glades

I'd like to hear about the glades and/or woods at Okemo from anyone who has been in them. Thoughts?

Double Diamond and Loose Spruce off the South Face quad are probably the best. Nothing real challenging about Okemo's woods. Fairly wide open and not overly steep. Black Hole over on Jackson Gore can be fun if there is snow.

Double Diamond was fun last time there was snow. Like Xwhaler said noting super challenging. Looking forward to getting back in them after all this snow.

Their policy is you can ski/ride anywhere within the resort boundaries. With the limited snow this year I haven't been able to explore unmarked stuff. I too would love to hear about some unmarked stuff since this is our first year at Okemo.

Supernova is the longest, with a couple steep drops. What kind of information are you specifically looking for? Forrest Bump is great because it is narrow at the top, wide open at the bottom, but the run back to South Face is flat and annoying. I enjoy Loose Spruce the most, as well as Outrage when there is a ton of snow because there are so many rocks. I'm not a big fan of their four newest glades except for Tree Dancer.

You're not going to get too many people discussing exactly where the good unmarked stuff is, but there is a nice flat semi-marked area at Solitude and one off of Mountain Road. I'd like to figure out a way down the left of Tuckered Out, but that's outside the boundary.

When riding up South Face look to your right, a little bit before Double Diamond. This is me in there last year. It's not very secret. Gets tracked out quickly. Not very steep. The top starts out thin but gets tighter as the pitch goes down. Also accessible from the bottom of Double Diamond where the runout begins.

In between Double Diamond and Outrage is steeper, tighter, and much less well-known. Much harder to find an entrance to.

You seem to be discussing the marked trails. If so, I'd like to hear about the conditions, how quickly they get worn down, Skill levels needed, a description of the terrain, steeps, "features", downsides, upsides.

Okemo has very few woods and they are more like glades.

However Okemo offers a greater challenge than woods! Try skiing around and through the crowds of people poorly attempting to ski or sitting across the trail. It's like trees that can move.
