    tiger woods

I was fairly reliably informed last season that he owns a condo in the Ritz Carlton at the bottom of the slopes at Beaver Creek. He might be selling....

Looks like some nice cruising blues and a sharp black diamond at the front...and who's the blonde - purrrrrrrrrr:grin:

What's the real reason some skiers hate moguls?

Excuse my mogul-intimidated ignorance but I'm a recent convert to skiing. Ski instruction seems to place a lot of emphasis on extending the leg out on turns and carving with the ankles to really get the benefit of shaped skis. Mogul-skiing, however, seems to be only possible by keeping your...

New Reality TV show based on Skiing!!!

Watched last night's episode - could have done without seeing the kid screaming in agony with his boot facing the wrong way....(gulp). Must think happy thoughts...must think happy thoughts......

New Reality TV show based on Skiing!!!

The "entertainment" value comes from the accidents and ensuing drama ("Will the boy get airlifted before he dies....?"). Lots of shots of people skiing and having a great time would be interesting for only about 5mins to 99% of the viewing public. So expect to see a lot more broken limbs, etc...

    Sell me on Jay Peak

Stayed there during the MA school break and the NH school break in Feb - we couldn't get over how quiet it was both weeks. Condo was superb and you get lift tickets and free daycare thrown in when you book through Jay Peak. Had a great time and plan to go there again next Feb. Having said...

What's still open next week (4/19-20)?

Sorry - didn't ask and saw those same "out of order till further notice" signs. I just assumed they'd closed the Sunbowl to save money. Maybe they're updating to a HSQ.....

What's still open next week (4/19-20)?

Just came back from an extended morning at Sunapee. Sunbowl is closed and only the Sunapee Express and North Peak Triple are open. Having said that I had a blast with plenty of snow in firm condition and wide open empty trails...parking lot was so empty when I arrived I thought they were...

    Gaper pet peeve thread

Not only do I love my ski rack but it's a Coleman (as in the lantern people) ski rack - not even one of your fancy Thule ones. Does that mean I'm steeped in Gaperdom? 'Cos that would be cool.

Will the resorts be busy on Easter Sunday?

Sunapee was pretty quiet - never waited more then a couple of minutes for the Express Quad. Gorgeous day with the whole family.

    Waterville....

It does seem to get bypassed - too small to be a "destination" area, too far to be a quick daytrip with the kids? I do notice that a lift ticket is only $1 this April Fool's Day....

Where to ski on Friday 3/14

Jay Peak Closed Today Sunday 9th March

Thought this was funny, and refreshingly honest, from their snow report (and presumably written before they decided to completely close for the day): "Again, this is a snow report and snow reports are written by marketers and marketers are s'posed to get folks to the mountain. That being said...

So What pass are you going to buy?

Had the Gunstock pass this year which more than paid for itself but I'm burnt out on Gunstock now. As I'm an intermediate with an aversion to bumps and three young children in tow, I think I'm going to skip a season pass this year and just play up the NH resident deals at Sunapee, Okemo, etc...

    Ski drills disguised as games...

I'm trying to get both sons (9 and 7) to parallel turn but even after several lessons they still seem to like to snowplow as they traverse the slopes. I really have no more money for lessons and the boys have the memories of goldfish and cannot recall anything they did in those expensive...
