I took a break from skiing Utah and went to Las Vegas over Super Bowl Weekend. My wife and I saw the Donnie Osmond show. Yes, that Donnie Osmond  He's still alive and has been in the entertainment business for 60 years. The guy is a pro and actually a few years younger than us. He and his troupe of dancers and musicians put on a terrific show, sharing his life story through singing, dancing and fun audio-visual effects. We had good seats. The venue was about 90% full, but after one song an usher asked if we wanted to move closer... to really good seats. Took us to fifth row, center. Donnie uses teeth whitening 😬

This youtube review captures my similar positive feelings about the Donnie show.

PS: in case you're wondering, I saw the Allman Brothers back in 1973 not that long after Donnie broke into show business.

I saw the Allman brothers at Tanglewood in the late 70's, tripping my brains out right up against the railing under Dicky Betts feet. Surprised I still remember the concert well, it was excellent! Can't say that I ever saw the Osmonds... I did see the Flock of Seagulls back in their heyday, which was a pitiful thing to witness.

It is the tennis center’s main court venue. They resurrected it as a concert venue a few years ago. I think it’s the same room that the Beatles and Paul Simon played?

It’s still an active tennis club with many courts. It’s a great concert venue but a bit controversial in the neighborhood. It’s one of the nicest/most expensive neighborhoods in the city especially if you’re looking for a free standing single family house with a yard. Forest hills gardens is all big fancy tudors. They hate the noise, crowds, and unwashed masses.

It’s a great venue for so many reasons tho. One of the only places my city and suburb friends can all agree on. Subway access, LIRR access, car access. And big bands in a pretty intimate setting. Saw Bobby there, seeing phish. Seen a lot of other good stuff there too. Sigur ros, the xx, Fred again, Louis ck before all the jizz
