Are you saying when the first was retired?
1938-1979 vs 1980-2025
I think Puck is referring to the two European trams mentioned on the last page (Montserrat 1930 and Barcelona 1931), both of which are still operating and both of which actually do predate the first Cannon Tram (1938).

FWIW, the old one in Barcelona is the Port Vell Tramway, not Montjuic which is a gondola that goes up to the castle

Wow. Found this

Being the first aerial tram in North America, American Steel & Wire used a license from German company (and cableway pioneer) Bleichart[FR]. It is similar to many trams constructed in Europe at the time, notably the use of iconic 12 sided Bleichart cabins, some of which still operate in Europe today.

Spent a couple days at loon, back to cannon today - absolute massive amount of snow made at cannon since Saturday. Paulies, avy, zoomer and extension should be done before the warm up.

Taft Slalom had whales also, yesterday was fun. But the natural snowfall has really helped also, general feeling on some lift conversations was (in hindsight) some of us would have used wider skis than what we chose for the day.

they have upper barons, ridge run and skyline left on the mittersill side. skylight, bypass, turnpike and lower hard on the cannon side. suspect upper barons is next

they should finish the middle of the mountain before blowing another flake on tuckerbrook

Paulie’s has a broken pipe from 2 years ago and is not fixed. They only blew the upper section of Paulie’s above the cat track, I am not sure that they can blow all three left at Mitty. They are down two water pumps. I also doubt Banshee and jaspers see any snow making.

Interesting, we were there pretty much all late summer to fall and had the equipment to take care of that for them quickly if they wanted.

It would make since to skip the Banshee area with no Tram.

U18 nationals is on barons this year, not really sure how you run that event without a second route off the top. Guess you can close the saddle for a week and block paying customers from riding the double? not a good option for customers and not fun for staff.

I agree on banshee and jaspers.

Hey crew, JW @CM here. I stumbled on this forum and thought to say hello. I'm not a huge fan of social media, but I dig places like this. (The family and I love Cannon, too!)

Obviously, we have some very knowledgeable folks in this thread. (Perhaps even those who get my announcement emails...) The mountain and its operation within SONH government is fascinating, if opaque (from the outside).

I promise I won't nudge in here too much but I love to talk with (and listen to) both guests and community. Happy to answer what questions I can!

We have 102 back up again as of earlier this week. Big help.
