Personally, I really enjoyed Paulie's last year skiing it on natural only.

Skied amazing yesterday. Will continue to ski that way for awhile. Near-term, we'll replace the damaged pipe.

Interesting, we were there pretty much all late summer to fall and had the equipment to take care of that for them quickly if they wanted.

It would make since to skip the Banshee area with no Tram.

You're a talented operator and a brilliant mind in the business. I bet you recognize the complexity of contract or capital decisions at SONH, particularly when it involves federal money, which the mainline project did.

U18 nationals is on barons this year, not really sure how you run that event without a second route off the top. Guess you can close the saddle for a week and block paying customers from riding the double? not a good option for customers and not fun for staff.

I agree on banshee and jaspers.

You're right. Not fun. We're going after the double when it gets cold again, multiple routes.

To get the most pressure and volume, we'll isolate the Mittersill loop. You will see a few flakes fly at Tuckerbrook, along that line.

Your input on this forum is so appreciated. I’m not living the Franconia Dream anymore, now in NE VT for many years in the Greens (Stowe, Smuggs, Jay), however I spent many many years in your backyard.

So has Cannon ever used just the Upper pod for early or late season skiing before? Seems a bit ironic if they have concentrated on the upper pod this year, when they could have done that before easily accessed by the (wait for it) Tram.

I remember the T bars as well. And (DHS, because we talked about it before) I have an old map that shows some sort of lift over to the left of Peabody from the triple (was a double back then) to the area near the top of Peabody. (may have to zoom in on it sorry). Also note the Banshee T Bar near the bottom of the tram. (skied those trails never rode the T-Bar) View attachment 66797

Couldn't resist on this one. Short answer: Snowmaking is altogether simple imo -- you make snow when (and where) it's cold.

Like a great NFL playoff offense that takes what the defense gives, crews follow temps. In November it's customary to see a prolonged inversion, which gives me confidence in the strategy of going for top to bottom skiing from the beginning, but it didn't really show up this year. Wet bulbs remained ideal up top while base were marginal or worse, including after finishing UC and Tramway. Well hell, you figure, it's still cold up here and warm down there. Let's keep going here. Plus, blowing Profile, then we get snow under a lift (in case you need it).

I have so much respect for my predecessor and the past teammates here, as this is an enormously complex place, so I can't comment on past decisions. However, skiing on the upper mountain early, with a download via tram, could be done in the future.
