Agreed. Made it on the mountain before 8 and went to 2:30. The massive crowds never materialized. Skyship seemed to be having some difficulties around lunchtime. I considered taking a shuttle back to K1 before getting on and getting to the midstation where it stopped again. I took that as a sign and got out and continued onto Needles Eye.Fiddle under the guns skiing great today, superstar still going with giant whales and nice snow but poor visibility. Skiing is great all over groomers are good and woods are good. 100% open
Yes they did, around noon at Bear when the Bear Mountain Quad went down β¦ 20+ minute wait for Skye Peak ExpressThe massive crowds never materialized.
Not always easy to source parts for a roughly 40 year old Yan/Poma refit "franken lift" if one is needed.Whatβs up with the Summit Express at Pico? Been closed all week for maintenance. Sounds bad, timing is dreadful.
True, but one might have hoped in K's case that they would have saved the most problematic sourcing parts from when they took down Superstar. They only have 3 other lifts like it still. Not always easy to source parts for a roughly 40 year old Yan/Poma refit "franken lift" if one is needed.
That's why in the East, there are sometimes extended maintenance delays with the Snowshed 4 and Mount Snow's Grand Summit Express, as they're all of similar vintage and hybrid components
Yes, but would you take a part off a 350,000 mile Toyota Camry before scrapping it to help keep your 310,000 mile same year Camry keep going? I suspect there were very few wear items on that lift that were remotely worth keeping, never mind finding the space to store it.True, but one might have hoped in K's case that they would have saved the most problematic sourcing parts from when they took down Superstar. Imagine running a real ski resort with that mindset and risk. Not always easy to source parts for a roughly 40 year old Yan/Poma refit "franken lift" if one is needed.

You would if they were the only parts available. I'm pretty sure when they removed superstar they said they were saving parts for snowshed and pico, but like you said I'm sure there were lots of parts that weren't worth savingYes, but would you take a part off a 350,000 mile Toyota Camry before scrapping it to help keep your 310,000 mile same year Camry keep going? I'm sure in an "ideal" mtn ops world, every lift would get replaced in the say 15-20yr lifespan timeframe. Granted the cost of passes, day lift tickets, and any other revenue stream a resort has, would be much higher than it is now.Imagine running a real ski resort with that mindset and risk.

Stick a fork in Outpost probably. Bummer because they made snow there this year too, first time in a VERY long time.
