bus from union square left at 3:55 and got us to snowshed lodge at 9. was about 30 degrees then and started to get warmer.
took the k1 gondola up and came down on ovation after looking for anarchy and juanita. both were roped off.
took the k1 again and did venture into anarchy. thin cover.
moved over to the superstar express and lapped superstar a few times. skier's right has small bumps and some powder.
took the k1 again and came down on downdraft to canyon quad. downdraft had some big bumps.
canyon quad was my favorite of the day. they were making snow on double dipper. bumps were forming but the condition was very good.
ventured into big dipper. same thing. thin cover, but was much better than anarchy. in fact, i lapped it a couple of times.
moved over to the bear mt. outer limits had big bumps from top to bottom. devil's fiddle was closed.
took a break and grabbed a beer down at the bear mt. lodge. it was packed. a local told me that devil's den is fun but is only open when there is enough natural pow. after a pint, took up skyeship gondola and did cruisecontrol and needle's eye. some icy spots but the sides were fine. the stairs were thin also. it was 2:45 and my legs were letting me know it was almost time so i decided to take it easy. for another hour i lapped superstar and called it a day at 3:45. bus left the snowshed at around 4:30 and dropped me off at union square at 10. was a good day. need to go back when the woods are open.

here are some pix of the woods

yeah thanks. on the way home i was questioning myself why i haven't been there for the last 20 years. then, i thought the K is not necessarily known for family friendliness. i have 2 teenagers is prolly why.
gotta get there more often. i think there is so much more to check out and i know i had just scratched the surface. i like the terrain and setup. will be back.

Damn @gladerider you killed it. Glad you got what you wanted. Did k live up to its reputation? I know it must of been better than your Stratton trip. K has many secrets. I have only discovered some of them, however when you do, it rules. Great report

@jaysunn no worries.
All I know is how good it can be when they get dumped. Gotta get up there when the woods open up.

I love trying to figure out where the pics are from. I consider myself a k - semi. Local. Own property on the mountain. But it still renders me unable to locate each location of these shots. So sweet. We'll done

My favorite woods at K-town are off of the ramshead lift. Go to the right off lift and stay along the top treeline till you get to the end of the trail. You can just drop in there or hike up a lil bit to get in deeper. Every time I hit it there are only half a dozen or so tracks in the entire area so there are always tons of freshies to shred. If you follow it all the way to the bottom it will put you out at the back of the bunny hill by the snowdon lift. FYI If you get onto a road/trail in the far left of those woods don't go to the bottom of it or you will need a ride back to the resort.
