Conditions: powder, crusty, bulletproof, corn

Drove up to sugarbush for the day for one last day at the bush for this year. All in all spent about 8 days there this year ranging from the saturday after Christmas until now. Got up there around 930 and headed for a quick run down sleeper before heading over to bravo and heaven's gate. The snow on sleeper was quite firm and chunky so it was super fast but a very bumpy ride. Took paradise off of heaven's gate as ripcord was completely packed with people and sounded like it was already very scratchy. Ended up in the woods of paradise and holy crap was there a lot of snow. They really weren't kidding about the 6 inches they got on Thursday. After making my way down through there very slowly and ending up on the runout from castlerock onto ripcord i went over to slide brook and took a trip over to mount ellen. Unfortunately the summit lift went down just as I was arriving and never came back up. First run took a trip down lower fis and wasn't really expecting much so I wasn't too disappointed. There was a decent amount of snow by that trails standards but it was very very firm. After that headed up north ridge which was amazingly running and took exterminator/lower exterminator. This was apparently where they were hiding all the snow as it was powdery bumps and chopped up powder all the way down. Definitely one of the runs off the day. After a few more runs at mount ellen I headed back to Lincoln peak for a late lunch. After lunch headed back up to heaven's gate and decided to give organ grinder a try. Similar to exterminator there was a TON of snow on this trail and it skied great. Took another run up and went jester down to snowball. The snow here wasn't terrible but definitely very firm. Decided to take one last run down lower organ grinder and it was super icy and my legs were toast so I decided to call it a day. Overall it was a fantastic day for the end of March.

Runs of the day- exterminator/lower exterminator/organ grinder. Pictures to follow

Glad the trip worked out and they got a decent amount of new up top. Amazing what elevation does.

Thanks for the report and pics. Love that place. We got an elevation storm when we visited a couple of years ago. Just a few inches down low but a legit foot at the top. Elevation for the win!

The difference between top and bottom was striking. Summit was powder mostly, bottom was super granular loose snow. Middle was ice city

I got there around 930. And north ridge was down so I went up to summit. I did 2 runs on both fis and black diamond. Black diamond was in the best condition I have ever seen it and fis was similar. North ridge was up by 1015. Bravo and the woods were also great. I think summit was only down for less than 45 minuets in the middle of the day. ImageUploadedByAlpineZone1427752288.478669.jpg

Not sure I comprehend this post. I've never skied black diamond, it looks pretty intense the times I've seen it. I was kinda bummed that the summit lift wasn't running when I was over there

Ah yes I see, I'm just an idiot. I had forgotten how brutal that runout is. I actually went into the woods off lower fis and found myself under the slide brook chair pretty far up from where the trail crosses. The snow in the woods there was super crusty but those would be some nice mellow trees with good snow. I never really considered skiing in there before but there's a ton of woods in that area

Lower FIS had been groomed from top to bottom which is a rare occurrence on 3/20. There is decent woods line that parallels Lower FIS as well as Moose Run Woods in that area of Mt Ellen.

The woods down by the slide brook liftline (prior to and after) looked nice and open and very mellow. I could see them being awesome with deep snow. A portion of lower fis was groomed totally flat but the sides had definitely bumped up some. I really enjoy that trail but hadn't made it over there yet this season.

Along with 3 fantastic cliffs for a deep snow day!

Yeah up top definitely didn't feel like end of March. Top felt like january/February, middle felt like early season (was similar to mid/late December), and bottom felt like spring
