    Magic Friday 3/5

Finally got up to Magic on Friday after two unsuccessful tries the week before. It was crusty in the morning, but softened-up in the afternoon sun. Met up with Tim and Travis and had a great time skiing trails that I never skied before. Magician was sick! They got lots-O-snow!! Conditions were...

    Binding adjustment question

Ok, I have another ski tuning related question. If you have a new set bindings, and they're set-up for your boot sole length, and set to the correct DIN level for you, would you need to pay for a release check?

    Post to Read Ratio

The events of the last few days and recent posts got me to thinking (always a dangerous thing). What's your post/reply verses just read ratio?

    Mt. Aziscoos Maine

Just back from the Rangeley area where we did a short hike with killer views. There's a description of the hike here http://www.amateur-hikers.com/mountain.asp?id=10378 . We started up the backside trail in light rain which got progressively worse on Saturday, and did the entire 2 1/2 mile...

    Smells that take you back

I was driving the other day, and passed a field of clover that smelled heavenly. It reminded me of when I was a little kid and use to catch bumble bees in a glass jar in the summer time in Florida. What smells take you back to your childhood?

    Back Together Again

Well after eight screws and a 6 inch SS plate, my colar bone is back together again and I'm already using my arm. I had the surgery on Thursday afternoon, and came home yesterday. Hope to be skiing by March at the latest. :-P

Tumbledown Pond and the North summit

Did Tumbledown Pond on Saturday 10/18. We got a late start from too much fun on Friday night, and didn't get hiking until 12:15. What a great day! 45-50 degrees, no wind, bright and sunny. We parked at the Brook trail parking lot and walked up the road to the Loop trail parking lot, where the...

    More Noob questions

I'm trying to buy a new Mtn bike for my son, and am not sure on the sizing. What is the relationship between frame size, which I believe everyone on here is talking about, and tire size, which I think most generic bikes are sized at? I can't decide between a 20" or a 24" bike. Took my son out...

So what's the appeal of skiing trees?

Why, or why don't, people like skiing the woods or trees? Personally, I can't get enough of them, but when asked why, I have a hard time putting it into words. Nothing like skiing in the woods on a sunny day with the sun shining through the trees! You?

    Stratton

Does anyone know where the new backcountry course through the woods designed by Olympic Medallist Bill Koch is, or how to get to it? Nothing on Stratton's trail maps or web site tells of it's location, only that it exists.
