I finally crossed Big Jay off my personal hit list. Special thanks to those who made it all happen. We definitely did not get first tracks and the fog hid the view but a good time was had by all.

It looks fantastic. Wish I could have joined you. Another time perhaps. It looks like regular open slopes that are in bounds. Some of that's not Jailbird is it?

Jailhouse Chute. Easy pick. Steep and overskied.

Abubob, I can neither confirm nor deny. I just followed my skis.

Nick, you owe yourself a trip to Jay.

Oh well, there is no sign for it... there use to be a rope to prevent access to hit... but when there is an open steep chute right next to you, those ropes seem to disappear.... wonder why?

You've posted a photo of people skiing/riding the Jailhouse Chute. It's an obvious one.

Holy CRAP that this is WIDE!

The news reports were not exaggerating. That is NOT what Big Jay is all about!

Surprised the state agency responsible hasn't been more on top of signs and rope. They talked a really big game about restricting access when this was a hot topic. But as previously noted, if there is a big fat wide open chute with no tracks, it is going to get hit regardless of signs and ropes.
