The first ski and snowboard equipment app created for the iPhone is available now from the Apple App Store. The free OnTheSnow Gear Guide app, produced by Mountain News Corp, publishers of this Web site, provides detailed information on 230 pieces of ski and snowboard gear, boots, and bindings.
"Our concept is to bring everything anyone wanted to know about snow sports gear into one app so potential buyers could compare products, share them with friends, save and mark their favorites, and use the information when they head to the ski and snowboard shop," said Stacey Pool, Mountain News user experience director. "We believe skiers and snowboarders will find this app comprehensive and extremely useful."
The app includes unbiased top picks by professionals in the ski and snowboard gear fields in a variety of categories. Data includes price, technical specifications, and how the manufacturer describes its gear.
Choices for which skis or boards to view can be easily narrowed by filtering to sport (skiing or snowboarding), gender, ski ability, and suitable terrain.
A complete ski and snowboard gear glossary, action videos, and more information will be found on the app.
Additional apps available at the App Store from OnTheSnow are Snow Reports with condition reports from more than 2,000 resorts worldwide ($1.99) and the free mobile version of this Web site.
