Earned my turns with my 13yo and 8yo. Also 3 other friends and 5 kids. Got to the peak at 1 and started up FIS in 20inches of mash potatoes. Decided that we wanted some fresh lines so went over and skied tornado. 2 adults and 1 kid went back down FIS. The snow was tough and the snowboarders were more like snow plows. The 4 skiers made it down well before the boarders. By the time I got back to the base of the Vortex chair the snowboard folks coming down FIS were only 1/2 way down and struggling. I waited 10 minutes and they still weren't down nor were the boarders from Tornado. Once I saw the boarders from Tornado walking out I decided to head back up FIS. Ran into others coming up as well. Went up about 1/2 way and skied back down and called it an afternoon. We made it down without any damage to us or our equipment.
I saw about 15 other people when we were there. Ran into a guy snowshoring who had also skied it at 2am by head light.
My first turns ever in October weren't great but were fun.
