2/25/2011 My Magic Moment

10-14+ over a ultra firm base
I timed it right for my long awaited return to Magic Mountain. The last time I skied Magic it was back during the 1991 ski season. It was a long slow white knuckle drive up this morning from the Hartford CT area. We passed no fewer than 8 cars that had surfed the median unsuccessfully on the way up.

I was kind of expecting a dust on crust kind of day but was amazed by how great conditions turned out. Skied in the woods a bit too and it was super good with fresh lines everywhere. Got a chance to Ski Slide of Hans but not the Red Line since it seemed to have lots of yellow ice flows going on underneath and the few tracks on it cut right to the underneath. We also took a pass on Upper Magician for the same reason.

As we speak I'm enjoying a lovely McNeill's (Brattleboro) Oatmeal Stout. What better way to celebrate the day now that I'm safely back home!

That was a great run then we shot into the woods on the left (Hallows)

Every run was an adventure. I got a chuckle when I saw the raised snowmaking pipes along the bottom of Slide of Hans. You don't get that attention to detail at Okemo!
