Killington and Bretton Woods. Sugarbush may be back next weekend. SB will close April 30, Killington will close May 1, and Bretton Woods will close sometime in May.

good question. i suspect they see some value in the publicity (just like they are getting here in this thread). kmart closing on may 1st is looked at as a disappointment but BW staying open until may 1st is looked at as an achievement. in addition to the marketing value, the golf and ski package through the mount washington hotel probably adds a few bills during the slow time of the year for new england's hospitality industry.eastern powder baby said:Of all places, why does Bretton Woods care about staying open so late?
Were there any good bumps?Bob R said:Marketing value is my guess for Brettonwoods. I would dare say they care about their patrons as well. I had a great time there this weekend. Yes it was limited terrain, but maintained well. I sent the maketing Dept a note on how impressed I was. Not just me I skied with others and for late season skiing it was nice.
Bob R said:Yes there is enough snow to make it to May. They pushed big piles of snow around to fill in potential thin spots. Still a bunch ready to be moved when needed.
I would go May 6th if they were open. I plan of going this Sunday.
Loafer89.... I think the lodging is priced high to meet a level of folks they want on mountain. This is an upscale place and really caters to the patrons. I have to be a day skier here.
while not having hundreds of inches of snow, most of my favorite ski areas in the east usually close with 80% terrain open and many years close near or completely open. definitely a slap in the face, but that is what my feet are for, only mother nature dictates when my season ends.On a side note, how would you all feel if you lived out west - hundreds of inches of base and all the ski areas are closing?
