200+ guns running @stratton, does anyone in New England run more?

There are several New England players that can run that much or more equipment simultaneously, though Stratton is a powerhouse.

I haven’t had the impression killington has run even half that prepping for their World Cup and season opening.

Killington runs around 100, just on Superstar alone, with the crazy set up they have on that trail.

I know I have read that at times, Mount Snow can run over 250 guns at once. Guessing Okemo, Loon, certainly Sunday River and many others have the ability to run over 200 at once

Loon often claims up to 300 running at once, and will probably make the claim again this week leading to opening day.

Number of guns is irreverent, it's about the amount of GPM/CFM that can be provided to support them in the given weather conditions.

Yes number of guns is not a true measure in raw output but the systems that often back up those high numbers are highly capable.

Mount Snow
SR
Loon
Stratton

Are the 4 snowmaking systems in New England that can move the most water (9K GPM or higher). Several others land in the 8K range and it tapers down from there.

Interesting that only 1 of the 4 are open yet.

I'm surprised there's only 4 that can move 9K GPM or more...

One is a vail resort so I'm not surprised.... not that temperatures have been very conducive to making snow in So. VT to date. Stratton never was in a rush to open but when they do its usually with a decent selection of trails

In a podcast Mike Salimono said they run 150 guns on SS, more than the total capacity at Pico.

Stratton doesn’t want to open with “North Ridge” like skiing. They want several routes off the summit to URSA, if not Snowbowl too, and a mellow intermediate trail or two on lower section, and ideally a carpet. Edge to edge, deep, etc. Clientele a bit different from the early season North Ridge crew.

This article claims Sunday River has 2000 snow guns stashed there.

Many resorts have well over 1000 guns in their fleet. By no means can they run all of them at once though. Plus as more and more resorts keep installing more and more fixed, tower mounted guns rather than portable ground based guns (makes it far easier on the crews with fixed equipment the vast majority of the time) you will see more and more resorts with ever increasing numbers of guns in their fleet

I know for a fact that Sunday River had enough guns and hoses to set up one at every hydrant on all trails when I was there. I would bet that is still the case.
