2006 Next Snow SEARCH Qualifiers Stop at Waterville Valley and Cranmore Mountain Resort

WATERVILLE VALLEY, New Hampshire — New Hampshire's Waterville Valley and Cranmore Mountain Resort will each host one of the qualifying events for the 2006 Sports Illustrated for Kids ' Next Snow SEARCH Presented by Kellogg's Frosted Flakes. The events will first take place at Waterville Valley on Saturday, January 21 and then move to Cranmore on Sunday, January 29. The Next Snow is a national talent search to find young athletes; boys and girls aged 9-13, who best represent the next generation of extreme skiers and snowboarders. Contestants are judged on all elements of the mountain, from park and pipe, to bumps, and racing. Judges, who are from the ski and snowboard industry, will also interview the participants to evaluate character.

Registration for the Waterville Valley event on January 21 will take place on the second floor of the base lodge, from 8 a.m. - 9 a.m. Registration fee is $10 for season pass holders and $29 for non-pass holders. In addition, lunch will also be provided for every competitor the day of the event. For the Cranmore event on January 29, registration takes place in the Eating House, from 8 a.m. - 9 p.m. with the same registration fees.

The season-long search is made up of more than 70 qualifying, including four super-qualifier, events held at resorts across the United States and Canada from December 2005 - February 2006. The series championships are held at Killington Resort, VT, from March 3-5, 2006.

In addition to the Next Snow Search program, the first-ever All-Stars event bring together the elite members of the 2004 and 2005 Next Snow teams for two days of competition at Colorado's Keystone Resort. On January 27 & 28, the best of the best will compete in an all-around test of skill for the honor of being named to the first-ever S.I. FOR KIDS "All-Stars Team." A one-hour show featuring the S.I.
