Be careful if you plan to ski there- N.K. just declared Seth Rogan's new film "an act of war."

North Korea: Seth Rogen and James Franco comedy film a ‘wanton act of terror’
'“The act of making and screening such a movie that portrays an attack on our top leadership… is a most wanton act of terror and act of war, and is absolutely intolerable,” the spokesman said.'
:spin: :spin: :spin:

Yeah, well wasn't Jong Eun quoted, at some point in time, to be into romantic comedies anyways....one knew any action-thing wouldn't fly...

"Visiting North Korea as a tourist comes with unpredictable danger as two Americans are about to experience.

North Korea said Monday it is preparing to indict two American tourists that authorities had arrested in April for carrying out what it says were hostile acts against the country.

Investigations into American tourists Miller Matthew Todd and Jeffrey Edward Fowle concluded that suspicions about their hostile acts have been confirmed by evidence and their testimonies, Pyongyang’s official Korean Central News Agency said in a short report."

Hmm. I wonder if this applies to skiers who cut off others?

Honestly i dont even feel bad for the americans being indicted. They were dumb enough to choose N korea as a vacation spot then they are on their own. And yea that map is rediculous.

I hadn't heard about this. Let me guess. Young, idealistic, probably 21 to 26 years old? Like the morons that wandered into Iran a few years ago looking for a "cultural experience".

The U.S. citizen detained in North Korea, Jeffrey Fowle, 56, is a father of three .... The Ohio man is one of three currently detained by North Korean authorities. Kenneth Bae, 46, a Korean American missionary, has been detained since November 2012, the longest-held American since the Korean war. Miller Matthew Todd, 24, has been held since April.

That one I had heard of, sad.

Now people are wondering if there has been a coup since Kim was a "no show" for the country's big event today:

That nation is so cray-cray, it's tough to know what it means. It could be intentional just to gauge global response for all we know. When a nation's leading family kidnaps movie stars and worships Dennis Rodman, I think it's almost a waste of time trying to think through things rationally. The fact they're a nuclear power is pretty unsettling.

It is sad all around. But a missionary (even if he wasn't promoting religion but still had to list this position on his papers) going to a country hell bent on being anti-religion (with the exception of their viewing the Dear Leader as God-like) and anti-establishment is more dangerous than those young kids going for a "cultural experience".

NK is a sad yet fascinating story. State Television must be reporting something about the Dear Leader not attending. If he or another leader is not seen in public it is quite dangerous for the regime given the social changes of their citizens not taking as much shit the not the past few years.

Various hypothesis:

"Outside commentators have guessed that Mr Kim has gout, which runs in the family, or has been drinking and eating too much."

“Kim Jong-un is suffering from gout, which is why he is limping on both legs,”

"Mr Kim had fractured both of his ankles and had surgery in Pyongyang in the middle of September to treat them, the Chosun Ilbo, South Korea's largest newspaper, reported on Tuesday, citing an unnamed source."

"I heard that Kim Jong-un injured his right ankle in June after pushing ahead with on-site visits and ended up fracturing both ankles because he left the injury unattended,"

And this one was for the most gullible:
"Weibo, China's version of Twitter, went crazy this week with reports that Jo Myong Rok, a North Korean vice-marshal who died four years ago, had overthrown Kim in a coup and sent his lieutenants to South Korea for negotiations."
