Both Belleayre and Hunter are saying they received 60 inches of new snow and more on the way.

Down here in the valley where I live in Woodstock, NY, not much new snow but it just started dumping. My back deck is now officially covered. It could be a sick weekend to ski in the Catskills this weekend.

Just don't try to get there via 84 to the Taconic. Brian, Greg, & Grassi have been stuck about 1 mile or so from the exit since 6:30AM. Lots of bad accidents, I guess...

I-84 is closed east and west between 17K (near 87) and the Ct state line. I am getting this from the Radio 88 web site as of 9:48am. I am sending this at 10:20am. Good Luck.

UNBELIEVEABLE!!! We're now counting in FEET...4-5 feet of snow in the past few days!

We're still digging out as of 8am Friday morning and plan to open today by 10am! Hope to see you here!

23a is ALWAYS the better option... It gets a lot of love because of the ski area...

My friend on 214(Chichester) said it's bad. Drifts and stuff...

Checkout Belleayre's pic of the day below....

This is driving me crazy - I just drove from NJ, up the NY thruway to Lake George. There is less snow here than in my back yard. Mostly, I can't stand that I have missed the best weekend ever to ski at Belleayre. It is because I have to go to Gore for the racing tomorrow with my kid. This is unfortunately another application of the refrain, "Ski racing is like that".

There was no prob driving I-287 and the NY Thuruway today. I have a report from friends that went up last night to the Belleayre area. They could not pull into their unplowed driveway and the snow was up to their hips and up to the top of their hot tub on their deck. Their dog had trouble getting to a location outside to go to the bathroom.

Another friend skied Hunter yesterday. He texted that the snow was "EPIC" and that there was a red cross shelter set up last night.

From Belleayre's facebook page: "Quick update. . .Jimmy's Terrain Park Jam is cancelled for tomorrow (2/27). We are not sure we will be able to get the features dug out in time. Keep a look out for the rescheduled date"

Belleayre was awesome today. Probably the best ever day in many many years.

I wasn't sure what to expect. I thought it might be really wet sierra cement but the deep powder was actually dry and a lot of fun to ski in. Don't get me wrong. It was NOT real dry Utah powder The untracked expert trails were great as long as you kept your speed up. The blue intermediate trails were difficult to keep your speed up enough not to get stuck. After the blue trails got tracked out a little the skiing was awesome top to bottom. None of the black diamonds trails were not groomed because the groomers were getting stuck. Good day to learn to ski powder if you were not use to it. Tomorrow the expert trails that are normally groomed off the top will be groomed. Still lots of powder on the numerous bump trails at Belleayre.

today, just a fun great day. :snow: Tomorrow should be just as much fun. Nice to hear quiet and not that scraping sound of skis and boards on hard pack.

I got completely buried in a fall at Hunter on Friday, inhaled some snow and everything. I was a bit freaked for a second, especially after the first swipe of my hand to dig the snow away from my face resulted in more snow falling in the hole.
