Although this event isn't slated to occur until February 2010, I thought I'd put the AZ community on advanced notice......

Thanks to the http://www.thunderboltskirun.com/skirunners.html and their dedicated efforts the Thunderbolt Trail on Mount Greylock has been resurrected and is prepared to host a race on the 75th anniversary of ski racing on this classic "CCC" ski run. Although it's over a year away it looks to be a great event and a chance to experience IMHO what skiing is all about.

Details on the race can be found here....

Regardless, sounds like the Thunderbolt is skiing great this year and is definitely worth checking out, race or not!

Sounds like a chance to make history rather than relive it. Bump this up next year, if you wouldn't mind, woodcore! Sounds like this could be quite the backcountry gathering!

Pretty cool. Might have to do that... I think it would be a blast.

Maybe a recon mission sometime this season...

I guess you could say it's both!! Either way I'll be sure to bump this up next year!

BTW, did you check out some of the historical photos? Great stuff!!!

This sounds cool. I've been wanting to ski the Thunderbolt ever since I first heard about it.
