Resort or Ski Area: Sunapee

Conditions: PP/MG

Trip Report: I had promised myself another study break at Sunapee for Monday, especially after seeing all the new snow we got this weekend  Ms. Trailboss had also planned on heading there for fun as well, so after my exam, I drove the 45 mins from VT Law to Sunapee...which was in clouds and snow interestingly enough. I had my 'sunny's' on the entire drive until hitting the access road...mountain snows up there persisted on and off during our afternoon visit

I was able to get in about 2.5 hours of solid skiing, much of it in the Sunbowl, which had just opened. First run was down the three Wingdings. The snow was firm and I was able to edge well, but a nice warm up. That trail is WIIIIDDDEEEE. Next run was probably one of my new Favs: hitting Porky's to Wingding and then down Liftline to Lower Cataract. Snow was softer here and I was able to find some good rolls on the side of the trails to hit. Lower Cataract had soft snow on the side. Lift ride was smooth and a bit faster than I remember. After a stop at the Summit Lodge, we hit Skyway Ledges with me in my prime, hitting the soft snow on the edge and diving down Skyway hooting the entire way.

Another run down the Sunbowl and then a closer for Ms. TB on Bonanza and Beck Brook to Lower Ridge. From here, I headed back down Skyway all the way to the Bowl and then down Blast Off which was decent but scratchy. Two closers on Flying Goose, which was excellent again before calling it a day. I feel great and that snow sure does a thing for exam stress. If you haven't gotten out, you should. (Not to curse us)...but best December since '02.

Wow, with all of the trips you've made, it looks like you are becoming the forum expert on Sunapee... :)

I won't get to Sunapee until after the new year, most likely just in time to get the crowds. :(

Yeah, it's a decent place to ski, but I'm getting bored and itching to get back to Burke. I'll be there all this week, next week, and the following. May hit Cannon too.
