No prob. But you should have gone with 25. I can understand not including some smaller non-destination mountains, but Burke and Pico are both 2k mountains and are serious omissions. And Bolton, while not 2k, is definitely a major destination. Some might argue places like Hunter and Plattekill might deserve to be on there as well.
What I would be interested in knowing is how many voters have skied all of those 20 mountains and actually can compare without being influenced by perceptions and others' opinions. I have skied all of them except Stratton (which I am going to remedy this season). Vote submitted. :D

I would argue that. I filled it out for fun even though I haven't gotten to the some of the Maine resorts. (SL and SB). It's all different strokes for different folks anyway. This is my 45th year on skis and I'm certain some would be surprised (and scoff) at the way I ranked them. I'm not all about vert or challange all the time. My favorite ski partner is my wife and while she's a good skier your not going to find her at Mad River even though I love the place.

I'm not sure you got DHS's point if you do a poll dedicated just to mid-sized areas. Many on this forum enjoy mid-sized areas more than larger areas. DHS wasn't suggesting have another poll for smaller areas but rather that many are competitive against larger ones and many are just downright better than larger areas. Black (NH), Balsams (NH), and Abram (ME) would make my top twenty over areas such as Okemo, Mount Snow, and probably Stratton (though admittedly I can't directly compare yet).

Here is my suggestion: Put together a poll with every single area in the east and allow participants to rank only those areas that they have actually skied out of all available areas. I think that will give you better results and a more accurate poll. Perhaps you could eliminate feeder areas less than 500' vert. I don't think any one is going to rank a 500' vert area in their top twenty unless they have a particular connection for said area that goes beyond how they would normally rank an area (i.e. they wouldn't drive 2-3 hours to ski their local feeder hill).

I'm trying to do this, every single area, including Canada comes out to 190 ski areas in the east. That's too much, right? I want to keep it shorter. How about 50?

Here's what I'm going to do. I'm going to suggest 50 areas. Then readers will tell me if they think any should be added or dropped. After some discussion, I'll post a revised poll with the 50 areas we chose.

Somewhere in the 50-75 range. I'd put the qualifier at 900 feet of vert and 100 acres of terrain. Sundown jokes aside, I can't really think of a single area in the east that is both under 900 feet of vert and 100 acres of terrain that would get many votes in the top 25.

What about our eastern Canadian friends?

I could think of 3 right off the top of my head that would rank higher than other areas included in the list. On further thought even more than 3.

I'm voting. Glad I got outside today. You guys seem tethered to the 'puter today, eh?

I propose that AZ'ers make up their own poll and let skiersleft pick it apart!

Have to have a thick skin, but the criticism was constructive and warranted. Voting on the poll closed, because I want to come up with a better one. Creating 50 resort list for voting to begin tomorrow. Here's the latest list:
