Susan DuPlessis from Sunday River Ski Resort also agreed to take the AlpineZone Ski Area Challenge! This is your chance to get official answers to your ski-related questions direct from a Northeast ski resort representative! Please post some suggested questions in this thread and I'll select ten to present for official responses.

As always, please be respectful of Susan and keep it civil. Also, please refrain from asking specifics about skier visit numbers, financials, demographic information, etc. Sunday River needs to be discrete about certain information.

Ask away!

Hello,
Are there any plans to r-open the lift serviced Mountain Biking in the future? If yes, how about lowering the prices. Attitash has lower prices and other things such as water slides and i think that is what attracts the crowds there.

Now that all is said and done, how did Sunday River fare this season? I visited several times in 2001 and enjoyed your wide cruisers and steep terrain. Hope to return soon...

I skied Sunday River on a friday in early Feb. It was snowing that day, and the skiing was the best I had all season. Not much of a crowd, and powder snow. It doesn,t get any better than that!!

Here's one:

Sunday River is one of the few resorts with a message board on their Web site. The conversation there seems to remain pretty civil and on-topic. Many other official ski area message boards have either been shut down, or are filled with immature discussion. What has lead to the quality found in Sunday River's message forum? What are some of the pros and cons to hosting an official message board on a ski area Web site?

OK - I'll try to keep it civil, Greg -

Mr. Cranky sez: I grew up in western Maine years ago when SR was a poor second to Mt. Abram, and the scope of the development in Bethel still amazes me. So here's all I have to say - PLEASE keep doing exactly what you're doing. By creating a pocket of supercharged commercialism which sucks in the yuppies, slackers and wannabes, I can go basically anywhere else (Killington and Mt. Snow excepted) and get my ski fix without all the noise, EXPENSE and BS that accompanies a typical trip to SR. Thanks for clearing out the idiots from all the other hills and gouging them to the point where they may actually give the sport up. Keep up the good work!

1 point I will concede - SR's groomers may be the best in the East......

Being a teacher, it is very hard, if not impossible for me to get to a ski area mid-week, yet all special discounts seem to take place during the mid-week. School vacations are usually blacked out from these discounts and specials. Have you ever thought of having a couple teacher appreciation days through out the season, including one or two during the normally blacked out school vacations?
