BOSTON, Massachusetts -- American Skiing Company has been selected as the Interactive Marketer of the Year at the 2006 Massachusetts Innovation and Technology Exchange (MITX) Awards. The company also won Best Acquisition Campaign for its All for One Pass online marketing program and Best Use of Rich Media in a Branding or Direct Response Campaign for its Killington "Buzz" marketing program.
The annual MITX Awards is the largest awards competition in the country that recognizes achievements in the development and implementation of interactive technologies. Winners were announced in 25 categories, including five "Best of" awards, at the ceremony attended by more than 800 industry professionals held on Wednesday, Nov. 8 at the Boston Copley Place Marriott.
"Interactive Marketer of the Year is an extraordinary honor for us, particularly given the elite group of companies represented at these awards", said Peter Troast, VP Marketing & Brand Strategy for American Skiing Company who accepted the award. "It is a testament to the commitment our company has made to innovation and to embracing cutting edge marketing strategies and technologies."
The Interactive Marketer of the Year is "awarded to the marketer who continuously sets the gold standard in interactive marketing and who represents the ideal of interactive advertising through creativity, innovation, and proven success in the field. Marketer demonstrates superior understanding and thought leadership in interactive marketing." Finalists for the award were Fidelity, Reebok, First Marblehead and American Skiing Company. The 2005 winner was Staples.
"This year's award submissions showed the most impressive elevation of ambition in quality, functionality, creative and technological achievements we've seen to date," said Kiki Mills, executive director of MITX. "These awards provide a forum to showcase the finalists and winners, and acknowledge the sophisticated work that is being created locally for nationally and internationally recognized brands."
Over 100 industry professionals representing various disciplines including creative directors, designers, technologists, online media representatives, investors and business professionals judged this year's entries.
"This award sets a high bar for continuing to innovate in this time of incredible change in marketing," continued Troast. "We look forward to unveiling new programs and initiatives that will engage, inform and activate our passionate guests in the coming season."
