Thats good... But my cat actually comes to me when I walk in too..

I love dogs... Someday i will have one... But my life is to insane(travel) to have one...

I love dogs so much... i cant have one...

does that make sense?

Yes, and good for you for not getting one at this point in your life. Wish more people would realize that---too many awesome pups end up at the pound for the reason you just mentioned. I consider myself very lucky that I can go home every day and take care of my dogs.

Skiing has really made me seen bad dog owners...
I've shared ski houses with dog owners that really are not that considerate to the dog and the others in the house. Too many people are willing to leave their dog alone ALL day and into the evening to ski and then hit happy hour. It happens a lot..

Dogs will go nuts and scratch doors... pee... and I don't blame them...

Good dog owners will head back rright after skiing to check the dogs... Give them some lovin...

Yep i love dogs as well as my cat who also greets me when i come home . Teefster thinks he's a damn dog we laff like hell because he's a real Klingon follows the Queen and i around.

We had Black Labs for over 30 yrs i luv em but now they are a little too strong for me to handle and i sure wouldn't want to diminish their "spirit" --still love em to death tho ---- so the Teefster ismy "JV" Lab :D:D:D

I feel bad leaving my dog at home when I go to work, and that's only for a few hours until the kids are home from school...I would never consider leaving her by herself for 12+ hours.

I think a lot of people just don't realize how much our dogs need us...it's not in their nature to be alone.

Out of sight out of mind..

i had a girlfriend that had a Westie.. The neighbors complained it barked all day - she didn't believe it and started all this crap... I brought a voice activated tape recorder over and she left it when she went to work for 10 hours.. Dog filled up 120 minutes with barking...

Soooo true---they're pack animals for that reason. I work crazy hours but do go home every day around 1ish to play a quick 20 min game of fetch with them---always the highlight of my day!!! My wife gets home around 6, so the pups are never left for longer than 5 or so hours on a daily basis.

I've even seen dogs left in cars/trucks at ski center parking lots. Yes, I'm sure the're let out thru out the day, but still nothing I would do. Lots of times after skiing I'll run home and grab them for the tailgating party tho.

When I worked, it was less than 1 mile from home. Came home on my lunch breaks every day (and lunch breaks were 1 hour long). Fridays were only 4-hour workdays. Dog was not alone more than 4 hours, and crated when I wasn't home. Also given bones stuffed with peanut butter or some other busy work to keep her mind occupied. Because yes, when we first got her, I set up a video tape and even though I wasn't gone long, she howled when I wasn't home. :( Now, she's rarely alone. B and I rarely ski together. If we do, it's only for a few hours only 14 miles away. If we head north for a daytrip (which we haven't done together in...2 years), we head home quickly thereafter.

Pre-kids, we took her everywhere with us. To visit friends and relatives, on vacations, heck, she's been in the gondola at Wildcat! With kids, the logistics makes it a lot more difficult for me to handle 2 kids + dog. :(

Love my little foot-warmer, even though she drives me nuts sometimes. She turned 7 this year.
