Anyone ever been involved in a lift rescue/evac?

I've had the pleasure of three 8) .
Twice at Killington and once at Wildcat.
It was actually pretty cool! Longest it took to get us down was about an hour and fifteen minutes at Wildcat when I was in a chair with two girls.Brrrr! Nothing against girls here but we all know that ladies dont like to mess up thier hair and dont like to wear hats, right? Well by the time we got lowered down they were mildly hypothermic and in tears. I dont think they ever went skiing again  .

Once at Smuggs for me. The drive gear broke in the Madonna 1 Chair when my dad and I were 6 chairs from the top. It was a cool day, but not too bad. It took them 2 hours to get to us, then another 15 to get us off the chair. It was quite the interesting experience!

Close call at Burke on my first or second season. Power went out and we were about 2/3 the way up on the double. They turned on the backup and it went out just after we got off. Everyone else was evaced.

Worst part: sitting on the lift for two hours and only getting a free hot chocolate as compensation

My sister "lift evacuated" me....

....in about 1974 with a "nudge" off a double. Luckily, we were about half-way up to the first pole, and there was some powder below to break the fall.

She should have been institutionalized ever since.... :dunce:

But, no, never been involved in the real mccoy....

Ran one, at Blue Hills, back after the "April Fool's Storm" of 1997. I had been layed off from my real job 2 days before. Once I dug out at home, I figured I'd go enjoy some skiing. Wrong.

When I got off the highway, I noticed the traffic lights were out. When I got to the area, all the media was there for the "well, at least the skiers are happy" story, and the area had no power. The coil was shorted on the donkey motor, and they wad no shot of getting it going.

There were about 100 people on the lift. About 50 jumped. The rest took us about an hour to get down, as the snow was up to 4 feet deep in spots. It was a lot of work.

Fortunately, it was a bright, sunny warm spring day. I did get my picture in my "favorite" Boston Daily paper.

I'm been paged two other times for evac's, but was too far away to bother going in for.

Once at Killington, only took about 45 minutes to get to us. It was in the middle of a freezing-rainstorm though, so it was not the most pleasant thing.

I am also trained to evac people, back in the day where I was volunteering patrol at a local mtn, but I've never actually done it.

I was at Jackson Hole and we were stuck maybe 45 minutes or so and they started taking people down, including the chair ahead of us .. but they got the lift moving, I think on backup, before it was our turn. We got vouchers for free tickets at the top :)

Last season at Bradford with my 11-yo son. We were stuck for 90 minutes. Fortunately it was warm and sunny, and the Bradford lift is not too high, and you can actually see your car and the lodge from up there. Can't imagine being stuck 100' up over some rocks on a big mountain.

The guys who got us down were totally prfessional and obviously knew what they were doing. Once down, they told us it was their first time ever!
