nobody seems upset about mt ellen closing with great coverage (i think that is more comparable to bear closing than castlerock)

No...........

but there is a fairly vocal contingent of Bush skiers who are upset that they run south for spring operations instead of north. Mount Ellen has the best set up in the east for running late season skiing, but south is what gets operated as that's where the condos owners reside.

part of it has to be having your exceptions set correctly. Got this today - they've already mapped out next season:

We plan to open Lincoln Peak Saturday, November 19th (if Mother Nature permits) and to close Lincoln Peak no earlier than Sunday April 15, 2012. Mt. Ellen only passholders can ski at Lincoln Peak from opening day until Mt. Ellen opens in December, and then ski at Mt. Ellen until Mt. Ellen closing day on Sunday, March 25, 2012. Mt. Ellen patrons looking to extend their season into April should consider the Mt. Ellen Plus Pass.
