Not much talk about Ascutney- couple of trip reports, a scattering of mentions in other topics.

NOAA's calling for 10 inches of snow on Friday, it's only a little more than 2 hours from Boston, the whole top of the mountain is blacks, which probably don't get too crowded, what's not to like?

Is there something not to like?

I have two free passes to Ascutney that I would like to use this season. If they do get 10" I think we will be there.

I wish I could answer your question, but I have not been there yet.

Skiied there a couple of years ago and liked the mountain for the most part. But my prescription sun glasses were stolen there so I wasn't real eager to go back. Not being able to see/ski the rest of the day kind of left me with a bad taste for the place.

Its a fun little place. The only thing not to like is the lack of investment in snowmaking. From my understanding, the summit was often closed this year, which is a bummer. They don't have much going for them outside of the summit HSQ. The fact that they showed little iniative to open it is a big thumbs down in my book.

I'm honestly surprised that they're still open. This all said, if they do get ten inches of fresh and the quad is spinning, you'll have fun.

From my POV, being a student in Central Vermont who can't get out today, stop typing and start driving to the slopes, folks. It is snowing pretty heavily here in VT....

I think Timmy and I might make a go of it tomorrow- would hate to waste free passes and it looks like conditions are perking up.

Ascutney will be great tomorrow! Plenty of good terrain open! I'd go also but I have a freebie at Sunapee I want to use, and Sunapee is a lot closer to get back for a Saturday night event I must attend. I was at Ascutney on March 2nd, and skiing was great! This is the time you go there, right after some snow. Don't expect a lot of grooming!
