Atomic Skis

How does Atomic's beta technology make it different from other cap skis. I've read Beta technology takes weight from the center of the ski and puts it on the edges where you need it. I've Goggled it, but can't really find an explanation I can wrap my mind around. Any Atomic fans have an explanation of how it works?

for some reason, i just haven't been able to dig into atomics. i have tried two of their models, both times i was told to go way shorter than i wanted and i wonder if that is part of the problem. probably just not for me, there are a LOT of die hard atomic fans out there.
