I always wanted to attend the Winter Olympics, but the venues, prices, lodging, travel logistics, security, and personal commitments have always kept me away.

I am now thinking of attending a World Cup race next season and combine it with skiing. It will allow me to get up pretty close to the racers and events, and still ski the slopes most any place I want.

What got me thinking was the US Nationals in Lake Placid in a couple weeks. That would be fun too, but there is a schedule conflict.

Anyone ever do this?

I was at WF the last time the US Alpine Championships where there; it was exciting. I'll be there this year too.

Any recommendation where the best viewing is? Thinking of the 3/20 Super G on Parkway

The only World Cup stop in the US, for the men, is Beaver Creek in November. If you've never witnessed the high speeds and crazy jumps of the Birds of Prey downhill, I highly recommend it. You get a very different view of the talent when you watch them fly by. The women routinely train at Copper Mountain in Fall as well.

The top of drapers drop( It is the steep pitch right before the finish). You will be able to look up hill and see a lot of the race and catch the fisinsh.

Top of Draper's, right before the final pitch, makes sense. Would think however for a Super-G or even a GS for that matter, would not be able to access that trail, no?

Why not head to Burke for the NorAm finals on the 14th and 15th. The North American Cup is just one step below the World Cup
