Date(s) Skied: March 21 & 22

Resort or Ski Area: Attitash

Conditions: Bluebird 42° Saturday, Snow Showers/Partly Sunny 30° Sunday

Trip Report:

My first "stay on the mountain" ski trip! Apparently my friend is buddies with a ski patrol guy there who was making us all look like newbies, but anyhow, loads of skiing/snowboarding on empty trails, and never a lift line. I hit almost every trail, save for the double blacks and glades. My favorite trail was Wandering Skis on Bear, and Saco/Ammonoosuc on Attitash. Bluebird on Saturday, snow showers/partly sunny on Sunday. The top section of each peak was a little scratchy, as you descended you got into the loose granular, and sometimes powdery stuff. How about that summit triple on Attitash, felt like 20 minutes! They had a golf tournament thingy on Sat. which was interesting, and also a pretty hardcore looking ski race on Sunday.

My wifes 3rd time skiing, and squeaked her way down some of the summit blue squares, which, really, were pretty advanced blue squares in spots in my opinion. Overall she gained a lot of confidence and had a great time. I need to figure out a closer mountain with some wide groomers for her to get some more practice on. But anyways, couldn't have asked for more from a weekend trip, and the ski all day/hit the hot tub after lifts close combo is the greatest! Hope this season never ends!

Yup, Attitash has those typical narrow New England trails. Bretton Woods will probably be more to her liking, but it's still far from where you live.

Have you tried Mount Snow? Jiminy Peak?
