I'm going to be at Attitash on Saturday...with the Military Salue event (military folks get free lift tickets) I'm wondering if the crowd factor will be high.

Has anyone been there when they have hosted this? If so, how were the crowds?

I can guarantee you it will be pretty darn crowded. I am in the military, and I'm staying far away for that weekend. Lots and lots of fellow servicemen and their families I know are going, and well, just not my cup of tee, especially since they don't even have a high speed quad going to the top of Attitash. And yes, it is extremely cool of them to be doing this.

We're staying at the timeshare across the street (made plans months in advance) and can't change reservations now. Already purchased two discount passes that we have to use...since my wife and I are veterans I'm going to at least try to get a few free lift tickets.

Guess the best I can hope for is that most people will be day trippers who won't be able to hang around the whole time... :???:

Just get out there early. Shouldn’t be a problem for you, if you are across the street. Attitash never seems to be very busy until about 10-10:30. You could have a couple of good hours in by then.

Went last year and it wasn't too bad. Didn't seem any more crowded than typical weekend. I had similar fears as you do, but they went unfounded.

If you're there when the lifts start spinning at 8:30, you'll be fine.

Agree - last year was mild. Most/all of the activity will be on Attitash so head over to Bear if the crowds get big. That's the same wisdom I'd offer regardless of an event. if one mountain is busy, the other isn't.

Make sure you read some of the stories posted in/around the lodge and sign the guest books. Very cool.

It was busy but manageable...biggest surprise was that the lines at the Bear Peak HSQ were a bit long in the mid morning. Fair number of people on the trails.
