Hey - o,

I'm working on 5 don't miss events at ski mtns in August for a Ski The East piece. I have 3 of them pretty locked in, but open to suggestions on others. Do you have any that you like and why? Anything east, doesn't have to be New England.

Thanks
AK

Not sure I'd call it "don't miss", but Attitash is hosting "BlueberryFest" this weekend. The Adam Ezra Band is playing, and there is farmer's market, blueberry pie baking and eating contests, games, etc. And blueberry beer...don't forget the beer. I know we're planning on heading over after StoryLand drives us crazy.

I guess this is something they used to do back in the day, and decided to revive it. Plus, "Attitash" means "blueberry" in Abenaki, which I thought was a great piece of Cliff Claven-esque trivia.

Actually planned to include that one, since it's so soon. Have 3 others locked in too. Seeking one more. If it's odd that helps. PS see you at BBfest. My wife will be craft vendor.

There was a bunch of stuff going on I posted over in News ... Okemo has a beer fest but that's this weekend. Ongoing concert series at Gore and Belleayre.

That's actually most of what I've got :)

I'm almost done building a Northeast Skiing News Android app (free). It's pretty simple, just an RSS feed of the news alone, but will probably be worth keeping on your radar for following anything I get that I post up in the news areas.

AK, just saw the post you put out on STE. Good stuff.

I'm about to go WAY off topic here, but nice to see you promoting the Sunday River Open dart tournament. As an avid dart player, I can tell you players at the event (this is the 2nd year) are extremely good. The guy who won 1 event and finished 2nd in the other is the #1 ranked player in the country and just got back from winning the Americas Cup (whatever that is) in Belize. A woman I frequently play league doubles with finished Top 8 in one event and 2nd in another.

Unfortunately, most of the folks DO look like extras from "King Pin". But there is almost no money in this game in the US. It's all in England. The guy in the screen shot, Gary Anderson, has made 276,800 British pounds (that's $432,610) so far this year. Not a bad pay-day for what us Yankees consider a drinking game... :)

I'm hoping to make it up to this event this year. Every one I know who went last year said it was a good time. Combine it with a round of golf at SRGC on Sunday morning and it's a great weekend away.
