I met Marc last night @ Wachusett. Doesn't look anything like Bill Murray. *smirk*

Marc, sorry we lost you. We finished that second race, and took one more run. A short night of skiing due to mad hunger. None of us had the smarts to stuff food into the bag for the ride to the hill...so by 8 or 8:30...we were gnawing at our backbones.

I cut 4 seconds of my previous time (I had a lot of room for improvement...so no huge kudos here).

Before heading in, I looked across the crowd in the summit line but didnt see you (my "vantage" point gives me that unique opportunity).

Anyway, it was good to meet you and we must arrange for a better opportunity.

Yeah, no problem.

Sky, let me tell you, is aptly named. It isn't often I am made to feel short being 6' myself.

Unfortunately, I was in an off mood last night. The crowds were horrendous as was the snow. Wet and sticky and unpredictable, and the bumps on Tenth were icy and unskiable (for me anyway).

I actually ended up using my webbing, and I slung my skis over my back and hiked up one of the two closed trails under the new lift and skied down that. The snow wasn't anything to speak of but at least I was away from the crowds. It was a good little work out too.

We'll def. have to find another time to ski together. I'll be up there with a bunch of people from work tomorrow night, hoping the snow will be better.

I'll be up a few nights next week too, depending on the weather.

Actually, no more than a few words were spoken. They were off for another run on the race course, and I was off to go punt young teenagers off the summit lift.

Or that's what I felt like doing anyway.

"This is what it's all about"...absolutley.

It was sad to say goodbe to Ozzie. He's been quite a source of fun and info over the past few years. Skiing / hanging with him makes me feel younger. It's cool in that he's about the same age as my boys. Quality hang time for sure.

Marc and Dozer did NOT square off in comp. It appears that (despite my introductions)...Dozer was "unaware" it was "Marc" from AZ. *sheesh*

I was sorry to lose Marc...but we were there to race and he was there to ski and that was tough to do last night @ Wa...the re-birth of the ski season for Wa has prompted everyone to come out for their turns. It doesn't "help" that the numerous school programs COMBINED with the night race league draws so many people. Usually by 8PM it starts to thin out a bit. I know when I left @ 9:15 or so...there were NO lines. Anybody getting up there at 8PM can get some yo yo runs in...if you can find snow that hasn't been scraped off by the snowboarders doing that "Scrape the snow off the hill" manuever  *did I say that out loud?*

Looking at a trip to Wildcat this weekend. Temps look great. MWO reports recent snow stroms. WIldcat claims a few more inches of snow last night. Could be sweet!

Feel like learning how to tele,

 Yer kiddin. Not for this dude...I already started thinking of taking up boarding...and decided that was too dangerous for my old bones (and height)

I've got plenty of improvement to make in my skiing thanks.

If you see a tall guy (head above the crowd tall)...Give me a yell, "Sky".

Hope to see you there...good luck with the tele thingy

I will do that, Sky! Then you'll look around and wonder where its coming from, LOLOLOL

Smile and be surprised, OK???

Wild Kitty is soooooo sweet, we have actually had a foot of snow in several small doses just this week.

Who'd a thunk it???

Seriously, folks, if you are hanging back because you are thinking there isn't much snow ANYWHERE, you are missing the goods. Maybe our trail count isn't what you'd like to see for late January, but the skiing IS great at WC. The Notch Effect has done good!

As always, you will meet Mother Nature at Wildcat, so be prepared.

The weekend forecast puts temps almost into the Spring Skiing mode, but not Melt Mode. A dumper, any reasonable dumper, will send that trail count up. Possibility of that shaping up Sunday/Monday, so give ULLR a little of your Super Bowl enthusiasm??

Skiing is NOT moribund, it IS out there to be had. Its not ice and BP <everywhere>

Yeah, this weekend is a big Tele weekend in the Notch. Tele demos and the NATO workshop-- NATO offering a day ( saturday) at WC and Sunday in Tuckerman's. We love the Tele and BC skiiers, too.

Had a couple of brave guys today make their way UP the Wildcat Valley Trail from Jackson NH to Wildcat D summit, they reported 6-8" pow and completely "bootable" ( and skiable) conditions. No snowshoes, no crampons needed.

tele is mad fun, just bring your alpine gear so that when things get tireing you will be able to just switch mid day.

Seriosly the conditions do rock, the least hardpack/ice I have even seen at wildcat. Snowmakers have been doing and awsome job this year(maybe related to the new director of skiing?) Hey, so is gondi line going to be open top to bottom this weekend, breeze? And what the heck is with gun pointed on black cat, your not seriously going to make snow on that trail(Crossing figues you do) :D

Hey, cut me some slack. How in the world was I supposed to know that the shy, quiet, girlish looking dude in front of me was Marc?

Had you said "Boy George" I would have found it more believable.

I guess Marc is a Karma Chameleon

Uh oh....It begins.

*here goes the post count*

ALSO..looks like the Wildcat trip is postponed...for good reasons. Mrs Sky has been coaxed onto the snow for the weekend.

A few good things about this twist. 1) Getting Mrs Sky on snow increases the possibility of a Ski vaca later this season. 2) I will probably ski more and drive less. and 3) Dozer..skiing Sunday @ Wa looks like a go pal! We can work those technique issues for next Wednesday!

Of course I'll be kicking my own arse later in the season if this turns out to be "The Weekend" to be at the Cat. "You should have been here last week" DOH!!
