It's very interesting how windows is growing...and the phones aren't that popular as of yet. Some are saying its popularity will be pretty big in a few years.

cten,
I think it's time for a battery pull.
I love mine, it's a great platform, but doesn't have every single feature that iOS and Android have yet. Also, the hardware specs don't quite match the top Android phones at this point (though it's a lighter weight OS that doesn't need the same power.) Basically, the manufacturers and carriers push Android more than Windows, and Microsoft is a negative in many people's eyes where Google and Apple have legions of fanboys. Nokia should give it the manufacturer support it needs, and with the updates coming in the fall they should close the gap on the rest of the features with respect to Android and iOS for consumers and with BB for enterprises.

Wow! That phone has some issues! How old is it cten?

I agree...there are a lot of Andriod and iOS fanboys. At this point, I'd say there's even a stronger fanboy base for BB. But if winmoble catches on, it could be pretty big.

About 4 months, if that. Made the mistake of opting to switch from T-Mobile to Verizon- been a lot more hassles since then. I had no idea I'd miss the call-over-WiFi capability of the T-Mobile phone. Of course, now that they're getting assimilated into AT&T, I can't/won't switch back.

...but you can get Droids with real keyboards. The Droid Pro is very Blackberry-like. the Droid 2, 2 Global, and 3 have a much bigger slideout keyboard. If you're just web surfing, you just use the touch screen. If you need to do power email functions, you slide out the keyboard.

I had a Droid before but the keyboard pales compared to a bb. That said its better than the on screen options.

Not a tech nerd in the slightest. However, my wife just got a Droid Global. Seems like a pretty cool phone. She definitely loves it. I think the slide out keypad works just as well as my Blackberry. Touch screen browsing seems plenty intuitive.

I'm curious what makes a BB keyboard better than a Droid's?

I've used a Droid 2 Global. I thought the keyboard blows away my Blackberry Tour. The Droid keyboard has 5 rows so you get number keys on the top. It's a PITA to type numbers on a Blackberry. You're constantly using the ALT key. It's also 3x bigger than a Blackberry keyboard.

That was one of the things I didn't like about the original Droid when I played with it in the store. The keys had no space between them. That was a big reason I went with the LG Ally over it, despite the Ally not being as powerful of a phone.

Anyone here go from a BB or other device with a physical keyboard to a device without a keyboard? How did you find the transition?

I had a Droid 1. I did hear that the Droid 2 did a major update on the keyboard.

I would be really interested in the droid 3, if it were lte / 4g

I did, went from a BB to the Evo 4G. Hated the touch screen keyboard at first, every word I typed was misspelled, then I found the calibration tool under settings which helped a lot:dunce: I cant type as quick as if I had a physical keyboard, but then again I am not typing long texts or emails with it. Touch screen is the way to go for scrolling the internets!

I could with the T-Mobile one. I'd connect to my network at home, where the cell signal sucks, and have no problems. Worked great when at a friend's ski house up by Plattekill this winter, where there's absolutely no cell service, but he had a wifi network in the house.

I thought I'd read that the new Verizon phones could too, and since my wife's on Verizon (and we pay the bill) I figured we'd save minutes. Now, neither one of us can talk at the house.

I've never used a BB keyboard, but they always looked way to small for me. My keyboard has 4 rows, the top is numbers. The space bar is between B and V and the ALT key is off to the side. The rest of the keys on the bottom row of a standard keyboard aren't needed. The space bar placement took a little getting used to, but I can type pretty well on it now.

I use the onscreen keyboard on the iPad. But with a 10" screen, it's a lot more realesate vs even the biggest smartphones on the market now.

To me, having a bigger screen seems like a small price to pay vs having a physical keyboard...on a smartphone.

Mine has a 4.3" screen that you can rotate sideways which makes the keys bigger and more spaced out so you can type with your thumbs if that is what you are used to doing.

LTE would be nice but in my travel pattern, it will likely be a few years before I get coverage.

I almost pulled the trigger on a Droid 3 on the Verizon site today. I put the phone in my shopping cart and it forced me to reconfigure my plan. I have unlimited data and I couldn't keep it using the web site. Today is the last day of my credit card billing cycle so I guess I'll deal with this tomorrow or Monday using the telephone to talk to a human.

I'm beyond the 2 year contract so Verizon gives me an extra $50-off if I sign a 2-year contract.
