Back East - An East Coast Snowboarding Film

goos park stuff, but this is not a video (at least from the teaser) that show cases what the east coast is all about. i have been riding on the east coast since i needed certification at stratton ( still have my badge ). if you are trying to differentiate the east from the west by just showing all park. then that what they ll think anyway. i would like to love to see someone pull a switch 5 off some the places on the chin at stowe. you need to expand what people think of riding in the east.

Again, they look like they're showcasing EC riders and not so much the mountains.

but it is the mountain that shapes the rider. parks are such a small part of what makes a good rider. what mae a good rider is some one that can take what they learn in the park to the rest of the mountain. i saw nothing but park shots.

if you look closely you'll notice that half the shots in the teaser are off mountain... handrails, ledges, junkyard. you can't give a thorough analysis of a film that you haven't seen and that isn't even released yet..

the video is about east coast riders who have chosen to stay "BACK EAST". plain and simple.

No local flavor? It's a video featuring local east coast snowboarding... a film featuring burke, loon, waterville, okemo, stratton, sugarbush, stowe, watchusset, sunday river, bretton woods, mount snow, handrails in vermont and new hampshire isn't local? That's pretty local.. the teaser's purpose is to show the level of riding that will be included in the video, there's no way to categorize the video without seeing it in its entirety of 35 minutes.

Ok, let me put it another way. Besides the locations, which seem to be on wide, run of the mill terrain parks, what makes this unique?

And for the love of god, find something else besides park and deck rails to nail..

Here's an idea. Ride up to tucks or Mt Washington and shred on some good old fashion ungroomed handmade jumps. Something we don't see normally.

Look online and look at the snowboarding videos available. Any videos filmed entirely on the east? No. That's the point of this video. You can say what types of shots you think should be in it after watching a minute and a half long preview and that's fine, but this video isn't even marketed towards you.. this video is for snowboarders who are stoked on seeing east coast snowboarding that they can relate to in their local snowboard shop. They may know the kids involved or may have heard of them (sam hulbert 8th place u.s. open 2008). Just call it a day and go watch some meat head skier video. thanks

totally agree with what most of the people are saying here. As an east coast snowboarder, you need to show the trees. Terrain parks are alright but there are plenty of natural terrain parks in the trees: cliff jumps, log jibs, tricks over riverbeds, etc. Park is cool but a video of all park sux. That said, still psyched to see an all east production with good talent, although your trailer from last year looked better. If you take what you have and add equal amounts of powder riding/jibbing in the trees...you would have something much better. jmho.

Just a thought here... but most replies tend to be following a theme... and that is most folks replying to this thread so far are indicating there is not a demand for the type of video you included in the trailer. That it needs something more to really distinguish it. If you guys made the video for yourselves, that is rad. I make videos (well, did when my camcorder worked) and it is a lot of fun. But if I was going to make a business of the thing, I would want to ensure I had a niche that there was a market demand for. I think what people here are trying to say is there really is not a market demand for east coast snowboarders hitting parks at New England mountains. It needs a little more depth and broader base.

Personally, I think the snowboard only approach is a really cool idea. Meatheads are missing part of the market by doing skiing only (which as a skier, I don't mind, but I certainly wouldn't mind some boarder backcountry scenes). But if all the footage is of parks, it is an extremely specialized video that may not get broad based appreciation and demand from an already saturated ski porn market. Throw in some EC BC from a boarder's perspective and you would have me really interested. Add in a feast of powder shots and some tree sliding east coast style and I would be watching the entire video for sure.

There actually is a market for east coast snowboarding videos (otherwise I wouldn't be making a profit after only selling two dvds that include a lot of operating costs). The video isn't all park. Look at the teaser, look at the "early teasers." There are plenty of shots that aren't park. If you're looking for big huge "east coast back country" shots you're not going to dig the video, but if you are a snowboarder who enoys seeing local snowboarders in a dvd that is sold throughout the east coast then that will appeal to you. I realize I'm mostly talking to skiers and a few powder lovers so this film doesn't have any relevance to you what so ever... there's a big difference between the movies you like and the movies that my target market enjoys. The majority of you would rather watch riders in 3 feet of pow than someone doing a switch back 900 off a 65 foot PARK booter. that's the difference.

First off, guys on this board chill out. I ride park and its sweet to see the parks I shred on tape. If you guys don't like the teaser, dont buy it. Quit hatin on some guys that are showing NASTY east coast ridin. You guys are rediculous. They are sick riders showing the aspect of east coast ridin they love.

Have u guys heard of Danny tourkmine or w/e. Saw that kids sponser vid on YouTube and sais hes from North Conway. The kids looks insane. Anyways keep it real and keep shredding the metal, yur nasty at it.
