Probably happens more often than you think. I see it all the time from beginners at Sundown, though not ussually on the main hill. I retrieved a rental board for a guy after it shot down the bunny hill and practically into the river a few weeks back. When I told him thats what the leash was for he just looked at me with a blank stare. I guess he thought it was only for carrying the board around the base... :roll:loafer89 said:Dave and I forgot to mention the snowboarder who let her board "ghost ride" down the lower pitch on Jericho. The snowboard shot down the trail like a missle past me and went across the Left Bank trail, thankfully without hitting anyone, into a group of tree's with a loud crash.
I had stopped to help the skier that I guess collided with the snowboarder collect his ski gear above him. I guess she let her board go by accident?????
OMG...I forgot about that...That Board could really have hurt somebody. That lower part of Jericho is the steepest part on the mountain that board was moving.loafer89 said:Dave and I forgot to mention the snowboarder who let her board "ghost ride" down the lower pitch on Jericho. indeed. there have been a lot of skier/boarder deaths in new england this year (i think almost a dozen from what i remember) and most involved seasoned and experienced skiers on groomed slopes.Just goes to show that it doesn't matter how good of a skier/snowboarder you are, it could happen to anyone.
