An awesome day of spring skiing. Driving up this a.m, I had my doubts whether I'd be skiing past 2, given the forecasted temps. Wow, was I wrong--I ended up closing the place down. Lots of bumps on the blacks, all soft and sweet and easy on the knees. The snow was surprisingly good; in the shady areas it actually stayed somewhat firm. Winisook Glades was open to my surprise, and the snow on skier's right and left was in fine shape; all the shade in there kept it firm. The best runs IMHO were Yahoo, Onteora and Utsayantha, which were deserted as Lift 7 wasn't spinning today. It was an effort to access them, but it was worth it. Dot Nebel invited me to open the throttle and Seneca's bumps were sweet. Cathedral Brook was closed and I would never consider poaching it. No sir, not me; now that just wouldn't be legal. Some kids were shredding Area 51, but it looked like they dropped the rope. Tons of terrain still open. I skied in a t-shirt; several kids were out there bare-chested in shorts. The scent of Coppertone wafting through the air, music on the deck with a nice crowd at lunch. I wait all year for days like this. Maybe tomorrow I'll hit the beach! Keeping it legal-
