Belleayre Mtn has started making snow this morning for the season. Even though their anticipated opening day is November 6th, I called the area and the information that I got was that they will not be opening until November 13th. They would not even tell me what trail they are making snow on, but there is a small picture of it on their website. I guess that it is one of the trails off the yahoo triple.

Ski Woodbury was quiet this morning, but the webcam did show them moving their snowcannon into position.

It's supposed to pour tonight so it wouldn't make sense to make any snow. It's great to see all this snowmaking firing up though!

From the news release at http://forums.alpinezone.com/about2258.html

It appears as though they're blowing on Yahoo itself. This is different from last year, when they opened with Onteora.

Interesting how we get more info on a posting on alpinezone then we do from their own website.

I guess Tony had to concede this Saturday to mother nature. 2nd year in a row of 1st eastern area open is not to be.

It's interesting how we can get more information on AlpineZone than by calling the ski area directly. When I called the lady in the "Marketing Dept" could not even tell me on what trail snowmaking was occuring. Give me a break, how many trails could you possible be blowing snow on the first night???? Still Belleayre is a well run mountain.

Tony Lanza has done some good things. He's a good promoter and runs the place well. A very good politician.

Hunter has sent an e-mail announcing a Saturday opening (11/13); think Belleayre will open too?
