I haven't spent too much time booting up in the new Lincoln Peak lodge, but their bar area, particularly on a spring day, is one of my favorite spots after a day on the hill.

Ditto on the underrated Wachusett lodge.

Worst? Not many spring to mind. If it's bad, I'll stay away and do a car boot, lift lunch. I can see why people would dislike Wildcat, but that's why I love it. Besides, end of the day, sun shining, out on the deck with a Tucks....it ain't all bad.

The lodge at Sunappe is a beautiful post-and-beam structure, actually shocked no one mentioned yet.
As far as ski-lodges go if its that bad I'll just boot-up in the parking lot and keep my money in my wallet.

Good point on the Sunapee Lodge

Even the though the lodge at the opposite of the lot isn't as nice, I found it very functional.

Probably been discussed before, but let's start anew.

I.M.O:

Best:
MRG (funky New England atmosphere)
Whitetail, PA (comfy couches next to the starbucks, always room upstairs next to the fireplaces)

Worst:
Gore. (like a large bomb shelter)
Bolton Valley (pretty run down)

then again, the "worst" lodges probably help keep some of the crowds away.

I think the lodge at Gore is very good since they refurbished it a few years ago. A nice big "brown bag" room downstairs-much nicer than the space crammed amongst the seasonal lockers as it used to be.

Best: Saddleback has the best lodge in the East. The fact that the lodge hosts wedding receptions every weekend from Memorial Day thru October speaks for itself.

I love mid-mountain lodges: Bullwinkles at Sugarloaf, Peak Lodge at Sunday River, Camp 3 at Loon, Sunnyside at Waterville...there are many more I'm forgetting or haven't seen.

The one time I skied at Loon we ate lunch at Camp 3. It was a nice sunny spring day, a nice experience.

In that vain, I remember Brodie’s comparatively small lodge with the big fireplace, which burn actual logs. And who could forget the bar upstairs. On a sad note I hear the latest plan from the condo people calls for the destruction of this piece of history.

Of the few I have skied:
Worst: Southington

I haven't been in all that many lodges, but Southington's was definitely the worst of the bunch.

Place still didn't look to good when I was there before ski season dropping stuff off for the swap. I think you still have to go outside and around to the side of the building to use the bathrooms.

Haven't been to too many, but,

Best: Mt. Snow or Wachusett

Worst: ASCUTNEY (can't believe nobody mentioned this yet.)

Having said that, I really could careless about the lodge at all. As long as the food is decent, and not outrageously expensive, I'm a happy little squirrel.

I've been to pretty much every major ski area in New England by now... Honestly, the only specific things I can remember about any of the lodges are:
  • Okemo's main base lodge means riding a really slow lift over the beginner area.
  • Stowe's old base lodge means hiking a decent hill to get to the lifts.
  • I couldn't find an electric outlet at Magic so I couldn't plug my hair dryer in, so I had a really hard time getting my very very cold boots off (it was a brutally cold day when I was there).

That's it. Food is bad and expensive at all of them. I've always been able to find a place to sit down to yank my boots off at the end of the day. Restrooms are overly cramped and always involve stairs designed by somebody who has never walked in ski boots.

I've been to many throughout the northeast, but I think both the best and worst are in PA...

Best: Bear Creek - if you don't have beginners, it's not worth skiing here, but the lodge significantly outclasses the terrain
Worst: Elk - Elementary school lunch tables to sit at don't work with ski equipment on (Montage used to have this issue to...haven't been there since the change to Sno Mtn)...and the ride to it from the parking lot sucks

....

Saddleback....
....Nice design, just wish it were larger...*weekends...

SR has to be amongst the worst not mentioned yet.
...Just needs to be bigger....weekends are a real mobscene...*For all the traffic it gets on a weekend, their bathroom crews do top notch work...imo
Guess one could consider it older design, but it doesn't bother me...am usually with pack...lunch over on the backside when there....

Sugarloaf's bathrooms could use overhaul....in comparison to the quality of skiing it offers....
