Going to be heading out with the kids for tommorow, any insight the best deals/coverage for sunday? Considered Saddleback, but not going to leave till tommorow AM, 5+ hour drive seems a little much. (On the other hand, saddleback is free ski tommorow).

Was considering Bretton woods, Okemo, on the outside, Sunday River, but even thats 3.5 hours.

AGREED! :) Ok, not YOUR wife, but my might-as-well-be-my-wife.

The no way point besides the 5+ hour drive is the fact of the storm starting tomorrow.

I would spend day at Saddleback stay night at Sunday River for Monday's storm...she have nothing to do for 2 day's and don't want to go I understand...me on announcing hand have no other way to get there except family car ( I am not going that far on my pickup truck with 10 miles a gallon) if only I know somebody who also want to go but :(

hmmm

I've been taking tykes for years. All three areas will be fine given all the snow there is. You didn't say the ages, but both areas have good greens and blues. Check the coverage before you go.

Here's the NWS prognostication for snow: http://www.hpc.ncep.noaa.gov/wwd/day2_psnow_gt_04.gif Net-net is anywhere you target will be fine.

You don't say where you're coming from, but given the times, I think metro ny. if so, looks like rain/snow line is about 1 hour N of NYC, so you could be in for a slow ride. I'd expect wet roads until you hit the mts.

Sometimes crowds are an issue for kids, but so late in the year, you'll not have much company anywhere. The only thing is that they may not turn as many lifts.

I'd just say get to where you can get safely too, you'll be fine. I agree that Maine is a bit far given that you are traveling during the precip.

I have all the resorts in my cell phone. That way, when I am winging it, I call on the road and speak with a warm body. In the old days, I would call a gas station, restaurant, etc. and ask how things are nearby. still works well when you're winging it and things are marginal. but I don't believe anything will be marginal unless you want to ski in greenwich ct! :)

If price is an issue, Okemo dropped their prices
$49 for adults, $42 for young adults and seniors and $32 for juniors and super seniors.
so did BW
  • Adults (18-64): $45
  • Teens (13-17): $35
  • Juniors (6-12): $20
  • Senior (65+), Midweek, still just $16!

Enjoy!

i guess travel condition might play into it. the route to okemo can be rather circuitous, lots of local roads, where i93 will be better maintained, though going through the notch during a storm can be "interesting".

I'm actually considering a trip to sugarbush or stowe. from so. nh that would be about 2.5 hours of course.
