Interesting. But, in the Boston Globe tradition, there is an error in their description of Pats Peak:

The most important thing for a family area is that there is only one base lodge. Read that as meaning only one place for everyone to end up meeting.

Technically, there are two. Side by side, but there are two. In essence, still winds up being one base area....but a little research would have revealed this oversight. Hate to be that guy.....

The other comment I have is about drive times...from the Boston Globe Pats Peak writeup:
This ski area in Henniker, NH is an easy drive form Boston. It can be reached in just a smidge over an hour with good road conditions.
From Mapquest, distance from Boston to Henniker is 81.76 miles.

I'm no slowpoke, but I'd like to see how one can make it from Boston to Henniker in just over an hour and not risk getting a serious speeding ticket...

Otherwise, I'd agree that the place is good for families. Haven't had a bad time there yet.

Mapquest is also not the most accurate of beasts.... I could see on a good day getting there in an 1:10.

Agreed. If I can get there from Central CT in about 3, then just over an hour from Boston should be do-able.
I'd like to see anyone make it from downtown Boston to Concord, NH in an hour in normal traffic...good luck.

Been there and done that. Concord is literally ten minutes on the highway past ManchVegas. Early morning on a regular weekend, no problem getting there in 1:10. I stand by my statement. In reality though with a family it might take longer, but it can be done.

Weeeeeellllll... do you mean downtown as in, downtown? 'cos it can take an hour just getting from downtown to Waltham...

When I say Boston to Concord I mean the edge of the city, on the highway, with no traffic etc.... ideal type conditions, like at 2 am. ;-)

That's what gets me about drive times...

I live 40 miles northwest of Boston, and I've never been able to get my drive time to Pats under 45 minutes...

I got a few exrta lbs of lead for your foot, if you need. :-D

I think I get there quick because of my dislike for driving in the People's Republic. I try to get through it as fast as possible.
